A Lesson From Britain: Less Guns = Higher Crime Rates? MSNBC Thinks So.

Britain. They have some of the toughest gun laws in the world, and anti-gun proponents would claim that could only lead to positive results, right?

Wrong. According to the UK’s Daily Telegraph who filed for a FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) to obtain the figures, the results for those advocating looser gun restriction laws could not be better.

The report shows in Britain at least one in three police forces have seen an increase in either gun or knife offenses in the last year.

“Force by force statistics obtained under the Freedom of Information have raised fears that Government initiatives to tackle gun and knife crime in the worst hit areas—mainly urban forces—has left the problem grow in rural areas.”

I read that, since the criminals in Britain are SURE you don’t have any guns, they just ding dong the front door in the daytime and when you open it, punch you in the face and walk right in.

I read that 92% of British home invasion robberies are done this way, but just 7% in America, as the thug is unsure of what is on the other side of the door.

How’s it feel to live in fear, Brits???

That was very interesting! I had no idea of the origin. Just one problem that I see with it - they said the “umbles” were the “heart, liver and gizzard of a deer”. Now I’ve removed the insides of a lot of deer over the last 50 or so years, and I sure don’t recall ever finding a gizzard in one.... :)

You've posted the exact same comment on two threads now. I'd like to know where you ‘read’ your facts from, because I think you've just pulled them out of your butt.

Home invasion isn't even a category of crime in the UK - it's just burglary or robbery. I haven't heard of any cases where burglars have just rung someone’s doorbell, punched them in the face and then robbed them. I guess it must have happened somewhere, but it's hardly typical.

Home invasion is a more American kind of crime. Burglary is riskier when the chances are higher of being confronted by the home owner with a gun. Instead, call the home owner to their front door, shoot them dead on the spot and then steal from their house.

I read that they don't have guns, but they are quite likely to possess a tactical thermonuclear missile and a large hedgehog named "Spiney Norman."
