BLUFFTON, SC (WTOC) - There were some mixed emotions as members of the Tea Party Patriots welcomed Senator Lindsey Graham in Bluffton.
It was all a part of a protest rally. A huge crowd filled the Bluffton Library to talk about the issues. It was an open discussion. The senator spoke and took questions from the audience.
The topic getting the most attention was illegal immigration. Most in the crowd were against amnesty for illegals.
"I promise you I will not work with anyone, Democrat or Republican, to do a damn thing on immigration until we secure our border," Graham said.
Graham also spoke out against cap and trade and the current health care reform.

Lindsey Graham in Trouble with S.C. GOP Faithful
Raleigh, N.C. Republican primary voters are upset with the state of their party, giving little-known, little-financed candidates with right-wing platforms and Tea Party appeals more support than expected. Senior South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham should be thankful he is not up for re-election in this environment. More of his base disapproves of how he is handling his job than approves, and a majority of them think he is too liberal and say they would support a more conservative opponent in 2012.
40% of likely 2010 GOP primary voters approve of how Graham is serving them in the Senate, with 45% giving a thumbs-down. That compares to the 67-15 mark his junior colleague, Jim DeMint, gets among all Republicans; DeMint has been vocal about his conservatism, while Graham is known for bipartisanship. Graham gets a 56-27 grade from moderate primary voters, but a 35-51 from the 74%-majority conservatives. Sensing the shifting winds, however, Graham recently pulled his co-sponsorship of an energy independence bill with Senators John Kerry (D-MA) and Joe Lieberman (I-CT).
53% of the Republican primary electorate says Graham is too liberal, with 41% thinking his views about right and only 6% believing him too conservative. Naturally, 64% of conservatives think he is too liberal. Even 19% of moderates think that, to 12% who think he is too conservative and 69% who think he is about right.
I don’t trust RINOs.
I hope they send that friggin RINO to the political scrapheap like PA did to Specter .
I can feel the blade of Lindsey’s knife between my
shoulder blades.
“I promise you I will not work with anyone, Democrat or Republican, to do a damn thing on immigration until we secure our border,” Graham said.
How working with no one, and deporting all ILLEGALS while securing the border!!!!
Sounds good, Lindsey. Let's build some serious fences and have five years of tough border enforcement and enforcement of all immigration laws. THEN, we can consider amnesty if the people and the Congress think it necessary.
And, NO 'comprehensive' reform that includes any form of amnesty. Border enforcement only for five years.
If Lidnseys behind you you had best hope all he does is stab you in the back.
There’s no reason to have a tea party if it won’t.
TO ALL S.C. FREEPERS: The primary is the time to get rid of Grahamnesty. Get yourselves and everyone you can out to vote in the primary!
yes he is in it for himself...not for his country
He implicitly added that promises only hold until the day after the election...
“I promise you I will not work with anyone, Democrat or Republican, to do a damn thing on immigration until we secure our border,” Graham said.
Graham also spoke out against cap and trade and the current health care reform.

Gram also said the moon is made of green cheese.
So what Gay Boy is saying is, after the border is secure he will THEN give Amnesty to the 40 million lawbreakers here? He can go to hell.
I don’t trust the RINO.
The way these guys parse we really need to define what 'secure the border' means.
And also what 'do a damn thing on immigration' means. If 'amnesty' or 'pathway to citizenship' appears anywhere in such definition, Graham needs to be told to go wizz up a rope.
Lindsey's slinking aside on immigration now is just an effort to help get Juan McCain reelected, to keep the issue in the background until after that August 24th primary in Arizona.
If we can get through this year and this congress with no amnesty being passed, I think it will be dead for a long time in the future, IF the 2010 elections go as now expected. South Carolina will have to deal with Graham in 2014, something they failed to do in 2008.
How exactly are we supposed to do that when he is not on the ballot again until 2016?
Sheesh.
2014. Pardon the typo.
