Representative Marci Fudge
WASHINGTON Twenty members of the Congressional Black Caucus, including its chairwoman, are asking the House to severely restrict the powers of an independent ethics office that has spent much of its first full year investigating accusations of wrongdoing among black caucus members.
A resolution introduced late last week by Representative Marcia L. Fudge, Democrat of Ohio, and co-sponsored by 19 other black caucus members, would prohibit the release of most investigative reports prepared by the Office of Congressional Ethics. It would also prevent the office from initiating its own inquiries, unless a sworn complaint was filed by an individual with personal knowledge of the alleged wrongdoing.
snip... This will gut and render impotent the Office of Congressional Ethics, said Norman J. Ornstein, an ethics expert at the American Enterprise Institute who lobbied for the creation of the office two years ago. It is a pretty good working definition of chutzpah.
The office, which is run by a former Justice Department prosecutor and overseen by an independent board, has investigated at least eight members of the Congressional Black Caucus. After it investigates, the House Committee on Standards of Official Conduct has the responsibility of formally deciding if any rules have been broken.

A spokesman for the House speaker, Nancy Pelosi, who lobbied other members to create the office, said she had no comment on the proposal by Ms. Fudge.
A spokeswoman for Representative Barbara Lee, a California Democrat and chairwoman of the black caucus, did not respond to a request for comment.

All the more reason to keep the heat ON! Drag ‘em out IN CHAINS!
The most ethical House of Representatives in history, ping...
Dare I say it....... oh fudge!
Thugs, racists, and parasites.
Yes, but they eat at fine restaurants, have chauffeurs and tons of support staff, have their travel paid for, can send their children to the best private schools, and have the power to reach into all of our pockets to take what they need to pay off those who vote for them. I'm not feeling too smug at the moment.
Hopefully we are witnessing the end of this bunch of corrupt parasites...white and black and everything in between. We will—I predict—feel a bit more smug on November 3.
Substitute the word white for black in the story and read it again.
Gee, Fudge
Wonder why you would say all of this ...
The first action of a Republican Congress should be the re dissolution of the racist Black Caucus.
All are professional racists, they make a living being black. They must be literally thrown out of the capitol
The Black Caucus and the Hispanic Caucus are both racist organisations.
Asking an official investigative body to not be allowed to expose their corrupt practices is the height of arrogance and deceit.
Still: even after their corruption is exposed, nothing will be done because they are minorities.
They got elected because their districts were either gerrymandered or overwhelmingly black and their only competence is that they are professional race baiters.
Pimps and Hos Caucus!
Corruptocrats. These are the same members of Congress who howl whenever there’s a whiff of a Republican scandal.
Ms. Fudge?
Good point. It might very well pass.
The black caucus is full of sleazy dingbats and taking the brunt of this Office's efforts this year, but there are many white Congressmen who would like to avoid the heat in the future.
I also wonder if Ms. Fudge thinks the Office is racist because of the inequality of results, just as many think the criminal justice system racist because a higher percentage of blacks are convicted (regardless of the crime commission statistics).
Gerrymandered districts have sent some of the most stupid, corrupt people imaginable to position of power.
Rulebreakers don’t care much for rules, or enforcement for that matter.
An interesting point, but you can't get past the first sentence. A "white caucus" would never be allowed.
The perfectly named Marci Fudge wants to define deviancy down.
