I think I'll sit this "patriotic" duty out.

I remember when I was on active duty that the AF would have some sort of recognition for each one of these special-interest-group pride months. The base paper would have articles commemorating famous black aviators, Asian-Pacific Islander aviators, Female aviators, and so on. They would schedule recognition dinners at the NCO club with special foods (I remember because all officers and NCOs were "encouraged" to go to these things for a while).

So I was wondering if some of my fellow FReepers who still go on military posts could check the base/post papers to see if they have special editorials this month to see how they are recognizing famous transsexual soldiers/sailors/airmen/marines. Or perhaps they could mention when the Fort _____ LGBT Recognition dinner is this month.

(In case you couldn't detect the facetiousness above, be assured it's in there...although the same comments next year may not be so facetious)

What an upside down world we live in these days.

The White House

Office of the Press Secretary

For Immediate Release May 28, 2010
Presidential Proclamation—Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Pride Month

As Americans, it is our birthright that all people are created equal and deserve the same rights, privileges, and opportunities. Since our earliest days of independence, our Nation has striven to fulfill that promise. An important chapter in our great, unfinished story is the movement for fairness and equality on behalf of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community. This month, as we recognize the immeasurable contributions of LGBT Americans, we renew our commitment to the struggle for equal rights for LGBT Americans and to ending prejudice and injustice wherever it exists.

LGBT Americans have enriched and strengthened the fabric of our national life. From business leaders and professors to athletes and first responders, LGBT individuals have achieved success and prominence in every discipline. They are our mothers and fathers, our sons and daughters, and our friends and neighbors. Across my Administration, openly LGBT employees are serving at every level. Thanks to those who came before us the brave men and women who marched, stood up to injustice, and brought change through acts of compassion or defiance we have made enormous progress and continue to strive for a more perfect union.

My Administration has advanced our journey by signing into law the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd, Jr., Hate Crimes Prevention Act, which strengthens Federal protections against crimes based on gender identity or sexual orientation. We renewed the Ryan White CARE Act, which provides life saving medical services and support to Americans living with HIV/AIDS, and finally eliminated the HIV entry ban. I also signed a Presidential Memorandum directing hospitals receiving Medicare and Medicaid funds to give LGBT patients the compassion and security they deserve in their time of need, including the ability to choose someone other than an immediate family member to visit them and make medical decisions.

In other areas, the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced a series of proposals to ensure core housing programs are open to everyone, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. HUD also announced the first ever national study of discrimination against members of the LGBT community in the rental and sale of housing. Additionally, the Department of Health and Human Services has created a National Resource Center for LGBT Elders.

Much work remains to fulfill our Nation’s promise of equal justice under law for LGBT Americans. That is why we must give committed gay couples the same rights and responsibilities afforded to any married couple, and repeal the Defense of Marriage Act. We must protect the rights of LGBT families by securing their adoption rights, ending employment discrimination against LGBT Americans, and ensuring Federal employees receive equal benefits. We must create safer schools so all our children may learn in a supportive environment. I am also committed to ending “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” so patriotic LGBT Americans can serve openly in our military, and I am working with the Congress and our military leadership to accomplish that goal.

As we honor the LGBT Americans who have given so much to our Nation, let us remember that if one of us is unable to realize full equality, we all fall short of our founding principles. Our Nation draws its strength from our diversity, with each of us contributing to the greater whole. By affirming these rights and values, each American benefits from the further advancement of liberty and justice for all.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, BARACK OBAMA, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim June 2010 as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Pride Month. I call upon all Americans to observe this month by fighting prejudice and discrimination in their own lives and everywhere it exists.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this twenty-eighth day of May, in the year of our Lord two thousand ten, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and thirty-fourth.

BARACK OBAMA

That's like saying you are “proud” of picking your nose in public.
Homo sex is just plain gross for the vast overwhelming majority of people.
Is achieving Fascist power so important to the homosexuals that they have to hang their nasty undies in front of all of us?
Or is such crudeness just another sick thrill of the deviation?

Rhetorical questions,of course.

The reason homosexual behavior is unnatural is very simple: Our sexual organs are there to create children, period.....

The fact that it feels good is irrelevant to their function.....

The use of these organ for other than pro-creation or waste removal is clearly unnatural.....

love between two men or women is not unnatural.....it is only the sex act that makes it so.

The day this man loses power will be a good day for both the world, who needs to have America to look too, and for America, who need to regain it’s role as moral leader....

Vote the democrat liberal socialist Congress out, cut the funds for deathcare and kill everything else he does.

I guess this is just the next step towards criminalizing speech. Get ready for pastors to be hauled off to jail for reading certain passages of the Bible.

A few years ago, I read a book by a Christian doctor which explained graphically homosexual sex techniques. Up to that point, I think I was like millions of others who just didn't give homosexuals and their sex activities that much thought so therefore it seemed sanitized and acceptable, 1 on the perversion scale of 1 to 10.

After reading this book, I can not hear the word homosexual with out having graphic images of feces, urine, semen ingested, digested, smeared and slimed by adult naked human beings. These are not good thoughts that I can take Pride in this month so I will have to opt out of the President's month of celebrating eating feces. Sorry, but my life has been ruined just having to realize that these nice “gay” people are sh*t eaters.

Please excuse by grossness but it is time to expose this perversion.

I call upon all Americans to observe this month...

That's OK Barry, I'll have to decline. I find the bible to be quite clear on the Almighty's view of homosexuality and I don't feel like tempting fate by going against it. Contrary to what you and your followers believe Barry, there are proclamations that carry far more force than anything you can write.

Can’t the same folks who demand separation of church and state find it reasonable that we should also have separation of sexual orientation and state.

Can July be nose-pickers’ and booger eaters’ month? Or toe nail chewers’ month? How are they any different? Hillary told us at work that May was queer month, now it’s June? Forgot about those Asian-Pacific Americans, huh?

And with that Jimmy Carter can now breathe a sigh of relief. He is no longer the worst president in US history.
