Exclusive: Are the Turks Preparing for War Against Israel?
FamilySecurityMatters.org ^ | June 1, 2010 | Paul Williams, PhD

A statement from the Turkish government promises “unprecedented and incalculable reprisals” against Israel for the Israeli Navy’s seizure of the Marmora, a Turkish vessel, which was leading a fleet of ships through the Gaza blockade over the weekend. The statement has received the support of Hezbollah, an arm of the Iranian government, and Hamas, the Palestinian network.

Such measures will not be confined to diplomatic censure.

Reports from Ankara, the capital of Turkey, state that the government, which remains under the control of the Justice and Democratic Party (Adalet ve Kalkinma, AKP), is planning to continue pounding the Israeli blockade with more flotillas that will be escorted by Turkish warships and fighter jets.

Israel merchant vessels moored outside Ashdodport have been instructed to sail into port and take shelter in case of missile attacks from the Gaza Strip against Ashdod and Ashkelon.

In expectation of an outbreak of war, the Turkish chief of staff Gen. Ilker Basbug has been recalled to Ankara from a visit to Egypt. Greece has since halted its joint exercise with Israel in protest against the naval action.

Israeli warplanes have headed west over the Mediterranean on Monday morning in support of the still ongoing Israeli commando operation aboard the Turkish Marmora, the scene of violent clashes between Israeli troops and the 600 “peace activists,” some of them armed.

The Turkish government, under Prime Minister Recep Erdogan, reported 15 dead aboard the vessel. Israeli army spokesman, Col. Avi Beneyahu, called the incident “an act of terror on the high seas.”

Far from being a humanitarian mission, according to Col. Beneyahu, the flotilla was sponsored personally by the Turkish government to break the Israeli blockade on Gaza and permit arms supplies and terrorist to reach the Gaza Strip in an unrestricted manner.

The Israeli army spokesman said that the Turks aimed at provoking a widely publicized international incident with fatalities in order to show Israel using strong-arm tactics against unarmed peaceniks.

He further maintained that the Turkish government refused to heed warnings that the vessels would be prevented from entering Gaza Port and rejected Israeli offers to ferry their aid cargo overland to the Gaza Strip.

An estimated 19 activists were killed battling with Israeli troops, and dozens more were injured. Ten Israeli soldiers were wounded, two critically.

According to the Israelis, passengers, armed with knives and iron bars, mobbed the Israeli commandos as soon as they landed on the deck of the Marmara. One passenger allegedly snatched from a sidearm from an Israeli soldier and proceeded to fire at the commandos.

In the midst of mounting tensions, the Arab League Council has called for an emergency meeting today to demand Egypt to end its joint embargo with Israel on Gaza.

Egypt will face pressure to end its joint embargo on Gaza with Israel at the Arab League Council meeting urgently Tuesday, June 1st. Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas demanded the session.

Demonstrations against Israel continue to rage in Syria, Iran, Turkey, Jordan, and Greece.

Oh yeah. Ayers is not only seeing Obama, he’s apparently running messages to Obama through Jodie Evans. Obama might say publicly that he supports Israel, but all of his actions say otherwise. It wouldn’t surprise me at all to find out some of those muzzies were holding butcher knives that came from the kitchen in Obama’s Chicago kitchen. Obama’s screwed though because Ayers is not who he pretends to be...

I was standing with a rifle, waiting for soviet paratroopers, but communists just ran for office

Keep the rifle, you may still have use for it.

Support and Defend against *all* enemies, foreign and *domestic" is what the oath says. *All* would seem to include elected ones.

Not to mention that the Russians have been at war against Muslim invaders for over 1,000 years (hint: the Mongols were Muslim after converting in 1260) and anyone who thinks Russia would have a civilizational alliance with the Muslims is proving that he or she literally knows nothing of Russian history.

They had an alliance with Hitler, did they not? Alliances can be less than permanent things. The Russians are big believers in "The Enemy of my Enemy is my Friend", temporarily at least.

flotillas that will be escorted by Turkish warships and fighter jets.

They will have to intercept the "Peace Ships" In Israeli waters. If the Turkish forces enter Israeli territory they will be committing an act of war.

If there is a war Israel will fry Turkey, that is if they decide to ignore the UN for once and do what needs to be done.

I’m sure the Iranians are stirring every pot they can. But I think the Turks are smarter than the Arabs who live in Persia.

Yes, I read the articles at the links, and disagree with the delusional results.

Yes, it is obvious that you are both ignorant of and apathetic about Russian history.

If you believe that God is going to "exterminate" Russia, which has been a Christian nation for 1,000 years, you have serious problems.

Under the NATO charter, when a member state is attacked it is considered an attack on all. Of course, that went out the window on 9/11. Or was it in Serbia in the 90’s?

Nothing is more preposterous than the idea of Turkish warships and fighter planes "pounding" an Israeli naval blockade. The IAF would skewer and roast the Turkish forces like so many kabobs.

How about the absurdity of a military that’s pledged to resist the Islamization of Turkey turning on one of its top allies?

In what way is running this blockade to the military or strategic advantage of Turkey?

It is a political ploy and for every action there is a reaction.

Well, I'll go with what God said about what He will do to Russia when they attempt to invade Israel- especially with His track record of hundreds of prophecies in Scripture that have been fulfilled already.

If you believe that God is going to "exterminate" Russia, which has been a Christian nation for 1,000 years, you have serious problems.

It's exactly that ignorant arrogance that will propel the Russians into the trap God sets for them where they will be destroyed, as God puts it, "on the mountains of Israel". No nation that has declared war on God has ever won and Russia will be no different.

And Russia a "Christian nation"? That's the best laugh I've had all week. Christian when, exactly? Before or after they had their glorious Communist revolution and before or after Russia murdered approximately 61,000,000 people? Christian? Get out of here.

Yes, I read the articles at the links, and disagree with the delusional results.

And I notice you can't dispute the "delusional results" with actual evidence. But then, there is no actual credible evidence to offer.

Before, during, and after.

THE RUSSIAN Church, like the other Orthodox churches of the East, had an apostle for its founder. St. Andrew, the first called of the Twelve, hailed with his blessing long beforehand the destined introduction of Christianity into our country; ascending up and penetrating by the Dnieper into the deserts of Scythia, he planted the first cross on the hills of Kieff. "See you," said he to his disciples, "these hills? On these hills shall shine the light of divine grace. There shall be here a great city, and God shall have in it many churches to his name."

Back from 17 days of traveling, talking and trenchering through Russia, a five-man delegation representing the World Council of Churches last week reported that, despite repression, religion in the U.S.S.R. is remarkably "rich and intensive," and that Russian Christians have an "ardent desire" to make contact with their fellow Christians in the West. (1960)

Is Russian leadership more Christian than the United States? Is the Russian Government more Christian than George Bush ever hoped the United States to be? The answer is yes, and not only is it true, but thanks to born again Christians, Dmitry Medvedev and Vladimir Putin, Christian influence in matters of State is rapidly on the rise.(2010)

Russia is not going to invade Israel.

If you haven't read Ezekiel 38 and 39 yet, please do so.

God says that Russia will invade Israel and therefore Russia will invade Israel. It's as simple as that. Now if you want to deny the Scripture, if you are willing to say that God is lying, by all means go right ahead. That's your prerogative. But all the protests and denials in the world will not stop this from happening. God says Russia will invade Israel, and, just like everything else that God said will happen that has actually occurred, this will too.

And I really hate to be the one to break the news, but any "Christianity" Russia may lay claim to is absolutely meaningless in light of this prophecy. There may be churches in Russia, there may be a Christian here and there, but the government of Russia, the people who run the show in Russia, are about as Christian as Charlie Manson. The government of Russia is not Christian, and it is the people in positions of power in the government of Russia who will make this decision to to attempt to invade Israel, an attempt that, according to God, will result in the deaths of five sixths of the armies, including the armies from Russia, that will try this invasion.

My advice to you and all the other deniers is to do some research into the hundreds of prophecies listed in Scriptures, and given by God, which have literally happened.

Don't be so quick to deny and ridicule until you have all the facts. Doing so has a tendency to blow up in your face.

GN:

You remain delusional and bigoted. If the best evidence you can come up with that Russia is supposedly not Christian is that the ATHEISTS murdered 61,000,000 Russian Christians, then the best advice I can give you is to repent of the evil you are committing with your lies.

Also, claiming that "God says that Russia will invade Israel" is a deluded reading of Scripture. God never said anything of the sort, and to accuse ME of claiming that "God is lying" is in fact proof that you are a heretic.

PS: there are more than a million Russians living in Israel, many Jewish and many not Jewish. I know some personally. The idea of Russia invading Israel is actually quite laughable.
