CNN.com Inadvertently Reveals Al Gore's Email Address
Web Newser ^ | June 1, 2010 | Alex Weprin

When it comes to emails, mistakes happen all the time. But very rarely do they involve former Vice Presidents of the United States.

So it was quite surprising to see CNN.com inadvertently reveal the email address of Al and Tipper Gore Tuesday afternoon.

"Our intention was to keep the email address confidential, and CNN corrected the online post as soon as we discovered the error," a CNN spokesperson told WebNewser.

So what happened? CNN.com today posted a story about Al and Tipper Gore's separation. The story included a link to a PDF of the email the Gores sent to friends. While the email address was blacked out in the PDF, clicking on the black bar opened the user's preferred email client, revealing the address used to send the note.

As the spokesperson noted, CNN has since changed the article to remove the offending PDF, but it was still online for nearly two hours, likely attracting thousands of clicks.

The email is pictured below, with the email address dutifully obscured, even when you click on it. See how easy it is guys?

LOL!

Talk to humblegunner about fixing breakfast but good luck. I’m still waiting on a sandwich from a long time ago.

Humblegunner's worthless at stuff like that. The best he's ever done for me is give me a cup of coffee with no sugar while he's running me off.

Oh, well...it's almost lunchtime now.

He gave you plain coffee? Guess you can count your lucky stars you got that much.

"Oh, well...it's almost lunchtime now."

Sandwich time. Maybe you'll be luckier than me. On a serious note, hope it's at least cool where you're at. Stay safe!

I'll let the chow hall make it. Humblegunner would just give me a piece of stale bread with mayo on it.

On a serious note, hope it's at least cool where you're at.

It's hot as freakin' hell here. Making me long for August Houston weather. :)

Humblegunner would go to the trouble to make you a bread sandwich?? I think you're bragging now. :P

You have my deepest respect for the work you're doing there. Sending up prayers for cooler weather, better food and safety.

Yeah, I'm one of his "special" friends. ("Special" like in "special ed.")

He even let me eat all of the shrimp en brouchette once and he never, ever mentions it.

Thank you - that really is appreciated. The food isn't bad at all...just somewhat repetitive. I'll take the cooler weather and safety, though. :)

"LET"?

If I had seen the crime, I would have intervened.

Wasn't any "let" involved.

Hmph.
