Jerusalem, 31 May (AKI) - At least 10 people were killed early Monday when Israeli forces stormed a boat carrying pro-Palestinian activists attempting to break a blockage of Gaza, Israeli military officials said. Four soldiers were injured when they boarded six ships at 4:30 am, the military added.
"We did not attack any boat, we merely fulfil the Israeli government's decision to prevent anyone from going into the Gaza strip without coordinating with Israel," a statement from the Israeli military said. "The flotilla is a provocation made to de-legitimize Israel. Had they really wanted to deliver the cargo into Gaza they could have done so via Israel as it is done on a daily basis." The convoy of boats approached Gaza in defiance of an Israeli blockade and had been shadowed by three Israeli warships. Free Gaza had reported Sunday that they had been contacted by the Israeli navy. Israel says it was willing to let the boat deliver aid supplies after the goods were vetted for security reasons. The boats left European ports in a consolidated protest organized by two pro-Palestinian groups to deliver tons of food and other aid to Gaza to break a blockade imposed by Israel in 2007. Turkish media reported two dead and 50 injured in the incident as the flotilla approached the Gaza coast. Free Gaza co-founder Greta Berlin told Al Jazeera English that its lawyers in Israel informed her that 10 people have been killed and many others injured. She told the BBC that there was no provocation that merited a violent response. The flotilla was carrying around 800 pro-Palestinian activists from various countries, as well as 10,000 tons of construction material, medical equipment and school supplies, according to a news report. It is by far the largest fleet of aid to try to reach Gaza since Israel and Egypt began restricting the flow of goods into and out of the territory in 2007 after Hamas seized control. Most of the violence occurred on a Turkish ship that was delivering aid with the tacit support of Turkey's government, the BBC reported. |
And no matter what the truth is, we all know how it will turn out for israel.
The fact that Israel was willing to let them proceed to Ashdod for a security inspection, which they refused, will mean nothing. And once again, it is a triumph for evil.
When you deliberately set out to break a blockade with 800 pro-palestinians, you have to expect to have a problem.
They got what they asked for and I am surprised more were not killed.
Of course Israel will take some heat, and the Bam-boy might come back from Chicago condemning Israels part in this, but he was going to throw them under the bus anyway.
Unlike the United States and it’s open border policies toward mexico, Israel means it when they say “Stay Out”.
I expect a UN Resolution (to be voted on an approved with the speed of light) condemning Israel and would not be the least surprised if we did not veto said resolution.
Why is it that we Conservatives support Israel (even we non-Jews) and almost all Lib Loons and Demo-Rats appear to be siding with their (which is also our) enemies?
Turkey is preparing to send more convoys escorted by warships and fighter aircraft...
This could blow up fast, as the muslims are setting up to resume rocket barages from Gaza, and Lebanon...

HUGE provocation and Israel had no choice. The world would condemn Israel even if the ship had opened fire on the IDF before they boarded...and even if a hundred Israeli soldiers had been killed.

” they have a talent too continuously shooting themselves in the foot in front of a camera “
Look - The Israeli Navy could have greeted this ‘flotilla’ with brass bands and bunting, and escorted it into Gaza, spreading rose petals in their path — and the Liberal/Media complex would still have found a way to spin it into anti-Israel propaganda....
This is NOT Israel’s fault!!
Do you really think “they” care whos “fault” this is?
I guess not. This whole flotilla had only one goal anyway (to blame Israel). And Israel did a hell of a job “helping” them. This will be reported around the globe at the speed of light and i expect anti Israel demonstrations around the globe. I´m just waiting for the reactions when they release the different nationalities of the killed people.
Gog and Magog are circling
Hey...what’s up with Israel? Didn’t the supreme one, nobama, say we are all without borders and citizens of the world???? All praise nobama.
That's a pity (when there were so many targets available)...
A case in point from Northern Ireland
Media response is irrelevant, since it would work against Israel no matter what happened. If the IDF hadn't stopped the propaganda convoy (and that's what it is) the global media would have fallen over themselves in their joyous gloating about the defeat of mighty Israel by a few boatloads of "unarmed" Kumbayists.
As it is, the terror-loving whorehouse media get what they want but that was pre-ordained anyway. On the other hand, the terrorists and their media allies and enablers get the message that human shields are not as viable a method of asymmetrical warfare as they had thought. This could be important down the road.
...and Israeli nuclear-armed ships are off Iran, and Iran has nuclear capability now. All of which is recent news, and IMO all connected. Israel is expecting imminent serious conflict.
Here we go...
First reactions:
Turkey recalls envoy to Israel over Gaza flotilla deaths
Egypt summons Israeli ambassador; Arab League urges member states to ‘reconsider dealings with Israel’; European Union condemns incident; UN chief calls for full inquiry....
since some of these boats were state sponsored, why don’t those states demonstrate REAL support and take those ‘Israeli oppressed palestinians’ to their own countries?
i thought not.
” Israel is expecting imminent serious conflict “
Lest we forget - although this incident is (rightly) commanding all of the headlines and attention this morning, there’s still an equally unstable situation unfolding in Korea.
And, like it or not, we have treaty (ie. military) committments in both theaters...
Obama’s gonna have to put a second line on his bedroom Princess Phone to get all of the “3 in the morning phone calls”...
Giving Obama an excuse to attack Israel. Our Muslim in Chief has got to be Impeached.
