has anyone heard any estimates on how long the spill would continue if no action was taken. Won’t it stop on it’s own eventually if the pressure equalizes as the oil flows out?

August or September barring hurricanes.

I think they are drilling so-called “relief wells” that will put the thing out, but they are still a month away from being completed.

Accounts have upwards of 80 BILLION barrels of oil under great pressure. This could go on for a VERY long time!

According to BP, it will take seven years for the oil to run out if nothing is done.

Wont it stop on its own eventually if the pressure equalizes as the oil flows out?Yes, but considering it's down THOUSANDS of feet underwater (33 feet = 1 atmosphere pressure) it will probably gush for an incalculable amount of time and seep oil until Judgment Day.
