Day 40: BP 'Top Kill' Still Not Stopping Flow
Outside expert: Pressure from well is stronger than heavy mud
ROBERT, La. - BP said Saturday that its latest bid to plug the worst oil spill in U.S. history still hadn't worked and outside experts suggested any progress was incremental at best. BP PLC chief operating officer Doug Suttles told reporters in Grand Isle, Louisiana, that the effort known as a "top kill" has not stopped the flow of oil, and that he doesn't know if the risky maneuver will succeed. He said the company was already preparing its next option to cap the well.
A live feed of the leak showed preparations Saturday morning for BP's next step. An underwater robot gripped a saw near the bent and leaking pipe atop a failed blowout preventer, where BP aims to slice off the pipe and place a cap and seal over the opening.
That operation is known as the lower marine riser package cap, and Suttles confirmed that BP had been preparing for that step "all along." "If we have to go to it, we can do it as quickly as possible," he said. BP has said previously the company was "planning in parallel," or getting ready for other options while working on the top kill — the injection of heavy fluid and materials to plug the well.

When Obama said “I’m responsible”, he really meant that “I’m going to play golf and I’ll come back to take credit when its fixed.”
Obama doesn’t care because either way he wins. If nothing improves US gas prices are going to increase. Businesses will suffer. It helps him tank the economy faster and cost us more just to run everyday errands and go to work. If it improves he’s out there talking about how’s he’s in charge and directing them to fix it. Press will bend over whatever way they need to.
They should quit foolin’ around, and pump in the Silly Putty!

Remember obama said the govt was telling BP every move to make. So he is in charge.
Did you see Landrieu’s face yesterday? She looked like a basset hound. Very quiet, too, unlike her grandstanding against Pres Bush after Katrina. But why the silence from Vitter?
It’s going to take many years for the reality of this to come out.
But has Obama given permission to BP for attempting the LMRP action?

It’s easy to say “I will not rest until -—”, when your well rested.
Obama holds a position that he is totally unqualified for.
I just wish he’d stop proving it.

Meanwhile, how low do you think gas would be if it all was in the refinery stream instead of "our" gulf?
On vacation? Obama has been on vacation since Nov 5, 2008. His entire Presidency is one big vacation.

And what is the dimension of the damage? How long is it going to plague us in loss of marine life and food that comes from the gulf? How many miles of coastline, how many fisherman’s livelihoods? The total cost is going to be f’ huge.
Now, how about spending some stimulus to clean up the issue?
CNN and MSNBC don’t wanna talk about it anymore....
This is a nightmare. What if they CAN’T stop it? How much oil can spew out of that hole?
