They were? Look at the video again! While he's lying unconcious, the one cop holds the kid in a straight arm lock which is used to immobilize a prone suspect then they roll him over one way then back and again use the straightarm hold.......while he's still unconscious.........At that point in time they were not concerned about any injury. Look at 1:29 of the video again when they grab his arm and pull him back onto his back. Yea, that's certainly great technique on how to examine an unconscious individual who may have just sustained a severe neck or brain injury.........

This thread is wonderful example of the chasm that separates conservatives when it comes to "law enforcement". The vast majority of us understand that the police have too much power and wield it in ways that limit everyone's freedoms. The minority think the cops can do no wrong and if a few people get hurt or killed, "oh well, at least we're safe".
There's no "chasm" as you claim, this is merely a conflicting interpretation of a video posted at a news site..........
While I opposed the actions of the cops in this video, I fully supported the actions of a no knock raid here in Detroit that occured a couple weeks ago that resulted in an innocent child being killed......
Much of the information in that case was omitted, such as the fact that the grandmother locked the door to her house at the request of her attorney Geoffrey Fieger, which required the Michigan State Police who were assigned the task of investigation, to enlist the aid of a locksmith rather than knock in the door.
And what was also omitted was the discovery of two stolen vehicles located in the backyard of that house......
The arguments and attacks were just as prevalent on that thread as they are on this one..........

I missed the part in the video where the cop declared him guilty. He was trying to apprehend a fleeing suspect.

Really? Most conservatives support Law Enforcement. It is the liberals who mostly bash Police and a MINORITY of conservatives that do so.
Again your comments and others here are so blatantly(is that a better word?) anti-cop. You are the ones who have rushed to judgment and would not even be allowed within 1000 feet of a court room if a cop were on trial there.

Go back and read the thread. Three cop suckers; you Moonman62 and GreenStreak are the only ones attempting to justify police brutality. Everyone else understands that the cop should be in jail.
On this thread, yes there are three of us with common sense..or perhaps we do lack common sense and refrained from engaging people like you like most of the conservatives on FR have.
Your question is good one, which is why I find it significant that the biased reporter and the plaintiff's attorney didn't mention it.
I don't believe in low-life narcissists who think they're in a movie having badges and guns.
But the problem is he didn't have drugs. You WANTED him to have drugs to help justify what the cop did.
That is a reason people have lost confidence in cops - they make stuff up or have perfect memories of things that never occurred then lie about it.
I would hardly expect someone like you to understand the concept, but it’s something called “Duty.” Duty to one’s fellows, duty to accomplish the mission. Whatever the PERSONAL cost, the job needs to be completed. Duty is a harsh taskmistress, a really nasty bitch. She demands nothing more or less than everything we are and everything we hope to be and she will accept nothing less. And we learn Duty with our “mother’s milk” in boot camp, whether it be Parris Island (my alma mater) or San Diego. Then we learn the concept of “Honor.” As in “Duty, Honor, Country.” We learn from hard won experience that when we go into combat, we are, right down at the root, right where the rubber meets the road, fighting for our buddies, doing WHATEVER it takes to ensure we don’t let THEM down, no matter the personal cost. Duty and Honor. The concept of “Country” is more vague and esoteric in combat; it only really hits home when we’re back in garrison. That “Country” is what spurred us to enlist in the first place. Protecting the American People, the bedrock source of our authority to exist as Marines in the first place. The oath we take specifically enjoins us to protect and defend the Constitution for the United States from all its enemies, foreign and domestic. It’s not one we take lightly, nor is it an oath we are EVER relieved of this side of the grave.
There’s a book you should read called “Operation Buffalo: Marine Corps Fight for the DMZ” It exemplifies what I am talking about. And it’s about what happened to a lot of my personal friends, people who can tell you a thing or three about Duty and Honor.
Since the American People are the source of our authority, in a later post I will point out to you just what that means. For now, just be sure that your job, not unlike mine, is NOT about YOU going home at the end of the day; it’s about protecting and serving the people whose taxes are taken to pay your salary. Yes, AFTER THAT you can look to your safety and that of your partner. But not until you fulfill the requirements imposed by Duty and Honor.
Oh, and also please provide the actual EVIDENCE of his possession of illicit substances. There seems to be a dearth of it in the actual police report, and you KNOW that if they had any evidence that he had on his person or was shown to be buying drugs that they would have trotted it out CENTER STAGE so as to “justify” the actions of that jackbooted moron.
It’s sure easy for you to cry about drugs, but the cops at the actual scene would have LOVED to have seen them. That they didn’t just goes to show off YOUR lies and wild ass guesses. There is no other justification for your bullbleep, nothing from the police report that substantiates your “allegations.” Too bad, huh?
