President Obama called Saturday for Americans to honor their countrymen who have died in war, saying that Memorial Day should be marked by "doing our part for the loved ones our fallen heroes have left behind and looking after our military families."
In his weekly radio and Internet address, Obama said, "We are called to honor their ultimate sacrifice with more than words. We are called to honor them with deeds."

President Barack Obama has begun his hometown holiday weekend by playing some basketball.
The president is in Chicago with his family for a few days over the Memorial Day weekend.
Obama left his home in the Hyde Park neighborhood on Saturday morning and arrived at the University of Chicago Lab School to play basketball.
He wore a Chicago White Sox cap — they're his favorite baseball team.
His daughters, Malia and Sasha, attended the Lab School when the family lived in Chicago.

Rumor had it that Obama and Mayor Daley would be watching the Blackhawks game at United Center together Monday evening. Now that rumor has spread, Daley's office is denying it. Guess we won't know for sure until they drop the puck! Deputy Press Secretary Bill Burton also says that Obama has no public schedule for Saturday and Sunday. To this writer, it would seem logical for Obama to catch up to Daley and hang out after the Elwood, Illinois appearance.
