West Memphis police officer Bill Evans was found lying face down in a ditch after being shot multiple times by a 16-year-old, including a shot in the back, the city's police chief said Tuesday.
The chief said his son, a sergeant over the criminal interdiction unit, took cover Thursday behind his vehicle as teenager Joseph Kane opened fire with an AK-47. He said bullets pierced the engine and the car and shattered glass. Brandon was riddled with bullets before being shot in the back of the head, Paudert said.

These were 2 separate incidents, spaced almost 2 hours apart. There are no pics or video released yet showing that these are the same people who killed the cops.

If it happened to be a different father/son pair in a different white van, that just happened to have no plates on it, they still deserved to be shot.
Sad situation, but likely to be over-reacted to. Another crisis that won’t be allowed to go to waste.
There are too many missing details to even list, but mine would start with what flavor of “AK47” was it - semi or full-auto?
And I’m not sure what kind of tactics they’re going to employ with a scattergun on a traffic stop.

Yeah ,, that’s a plan I can get behind ,, have Fred put a bead on Suzie Homemakers head while Billy-Bob writes her up for not using her turn signals.. What a moron this police chief is .. he should be picking up trash alongside the road.
Of course the upside is that with 2 cops in each shakedown/traffic car they’ll rob the public a bit less as they will naturally write fewer tickets than 2 individual shakedown/revenue units.
One thing I never understand is the whole 'AKs are inaccurate.' They are not. They have greater tolerances than an AR type weapon, and over long distances the AR will have better accuracy than the AK. However, take an AR, give me an AK, and I guarantee you up to 300 yds I will match you shot for shot. Obviously in the hands of a Mujahadeen spraying and praying it is a different story, but in my hands a Kalashnikov is accurate enough for each round to count. Now, in this case the 16 year old was only some feet away, the cops were taking cover from the 7.62 rounds, and the outcome was more or less a given. Reminds me of that Hollywood shooting. I believe that the accuracy of the AKs depend on whether they are hammered together in the hills of Afghanistan or manufactured in a modern facility. The Romanian units, for example, shoot pretty tight, considering the type of weapon.
Believe me when I say this, I am not anti-cop nor would I ever condone killing a cop, it is disgusting, have 2 bro. that were LEO.
However, cops today are not the cops of the past. I think today they are viewed as militant bullies, more around to harass than protect.
The cops that were around when I was growing up were part of the community, they used common sense, you were not intimidated by them, yet you respected them.
