Apple says 'saddened' by string of suicides at Foxconn

HONG KONG May 26 (Reuters) - Apple Inc (AAPL.O) said on Wednesday that it was saddened by a recent spate of apparent suicides at Foxconn (2038.HK), one of its key production partners, and would continue ongoing inspections of all facilities where its products are made.

How odd.
Foxconn supplies a lot of parts to a lot of folks. Why in the heck are they picking on Apple?

Foxconn is a big supplier for all sorts of electronic components.
Is this one of those workhouses where the employee’s are locked up like cattle at night?
Nice computer cases. Terrible mother boards. Maybe not such a great place to work either.

It’s pretty bad when you have to drop something on the floor to take a break from work.
I read that the workers are paid about $130 per month. Sounds like a hard life.
Depends on the wage from where they were before getting the Foxconn jobs. Most of them probably from the rice field. Farm work is WAY harder than factory work.
That’s so Apple and Dell et al can have a a wifi chip that costs them $3 and charge $299 more for the device.
