GRAND ISLE, La. -- Officials from Jefferson Parish claim BP bused 400 cleanup workers into Grand Isle on Friday in time for a visit from President Barack Obama.
The extra workers were brought in for Friday only, at a rate of $12 an hour, officials told WDSU.

I wonder if the workers were SEIU?
On CNN, a reporter said she asked one of the workers where they were from, and he/she said, “I’m not allowed to tell you.” She asked the question again two more times phrased differently, but got a similar answer back. Strange?
shoot, they’d only have to pay me $10 an hour to go cheer for zerO to walk on the beach and pick tar balls
I’m not going to defend BP but frankly, silly me, this sounds like an OBama stunt.
Cause if you think this administration was fooled by some setup orchestrated by BP then I got a bridge to sell cheap.
I think that BP AND Obama are trying to control how this thing plays out. after all they both have reputations to protect.
This is one more Kubuki dance to fool us dummies out here in la-la land.
But it’s the weekend a holiday weekend, the people will never hear that it was just a photo op, they will see images of Obama bending on the beaches looking at tar balls. Awwwww
And they won’t hear what he actually said either...
Ed Henry of CNN-Henry recounted how a little earlier a New York Times reporter displaying some surprising pushback against environmentalist exaggeration pointed out to Obama how there are tar balls ’even when there’s not an oil spill,’ so: ’How do we know this is from the oil spill and not just tar that’s washed up? I’ve even seen it,’ the reporter said, ‘it’s even popped up in my bathing suit.’
To which, Henry recited, the President made a little joke, saying ‘I want to hear a little bit more about that tar in your bathing suit, maybe we’ll hear about that sometime.’ Which is just an offhand moment. Don’t want to make too big of a deal out of it. But if George W. Bush had made a comment like that along the beach after Katrina, you can imagine the kind of criticism he might get.
No, but I assure you, whatever you think you know about them is misinformed.

Why does this whole "disaster" have the feel of theater to me?
Barry0 said, and let me be clear, “the government is fully in charge here.” Still want to blame BP? lol
We will be paying a LOT more for Gas which means that we will be paying a LOT MORE GAS TAXES!!!
I heard $5.00 a gallon this summer.
“jobs saved or created”
Well, for a few hours anyway.
not ONE real reporter in the bunch? did no one follow these buses back to wherever they came from?
More unemployment. $5.00 a gallon gas will crush the economy as people put off purchases to pay double their current monthly gas bill.
Think of the GAS TAXES of $5,00 a gallon gas!!
Five dollar a gallon equals depression.
Just $5.00 a gallon would destroy this economy.
It will drive everything up.
