We are in for a fight. Put your brass knuckles on. It’s going to be a dirty one.
All true, but I’m feeling more optimistic lately. A lot of people are praying. Sooner or later a divine answer is going to start taking shape. Maybe it already is. :)
It would also be a position, which is separate from employment regarding the law.
Is this the issue that will finally bag the bag?
Read Sestak’s statement. He mentions only one attempt to get him out of the race. Read Obama’s attorney Bauer’s statement- “Bauer stated in the memo that efforts “were made in June and July of 2009 to determine whether Congressman Sestak would be interested in service on a presidential or other Senior Executive Branch Advisory Board” he mentions at least two attempts.
Bet he resigns to take a high ranking job in Chicago, then runs for mayor as soon as he can. Why else would Obama be heading for Chicago after months and months and months and month of absenting himself from the Windy City. Next we’ll hear that Rahm is going to resign, or be fired.
Horrors to think he might be replaced by Robert Gibbs, or Beltway Bob as Palin calls him.
Nothing about this passes the smell test. When Major Garrett inquired about the White House role in Sestak-gate he had no answer because the “truth” hadn’t been made up yet. He danced around it and said the WH would release a statement soon. Well, if you are going to tell the truth you don’t need time to concoct the story. Sestak answered immediately when originally asked the question “yes” no hesitation. Also the question posed to him was - “did someone in the White House offer you a job to withdraw from the primary?” Certainly, if it had been Clinton the answer would clearly be NO — Clinton hasn’t been in the White House for almost 10 years.
Today, after the lawyers came up with this fabrication, Sestak looked real uncomfortable explaining it further....
Will the truth come out on this .. Not a chance !! The press won’t force the issue. The lie will become the reality.
Now, imagine if this were the Bush-Cheney White House - oh nevermind - we all know Bush was the devil incarnate and should have been impeached! Pathetic the double standard!!
The WH denial to Larry Kane needs to be delved into.
Another discrepancy is in the WH “official” statement which claims that “efforts” (plural) were made in June and July of 2009 to determine whether Sestak would be interested in an advisory position. With that statement, one would conclude that there were multiple contacts and perhaps some different offers, each one juicier than the last. In Sestak’s presser today, the only contact he referenced was a 30-60 second mention in the course of a longer conversation with Clinton last summer.
Part of this game is to tell the truth, but not the WHOLE truth. Just give the DBM and supporters a fig leaf. Clinton’s must have been the FIRST of several contacts, so the disclosures today would be absolutely truthful. But what about the other “efforts”. Who made them? What was offered to sweeten the deal. Clinton was sent on an “exploratory” mission. Sestak didn’t bite, so they might have sent in bigger guns after that.
And when questioned about the Secretary of the Navy offer, why didn’t Sestak just flatly deny that? If it was just an advisory board, why not just answer no, it wasn’t the Secretary of the Navy, it was just an unpaid advisory position - no big deal? But he twice issued a “no comment” when pressed about the Sec. of the Navy job.
I'm with you. Sestak constantly referred to the offer as a "job." I've had a couple of these unpaid advisory thingies myself and never for a nanosecond did I consider them jobs. Nor do I know anyone who does. This is BS on steroids.
And using Bubba as the intermediary? What malarkey. A former president of the country soliciting people for advisory boards? FGS, low-level munchkins do this work.
I picked up on that “efforts” as well. That certainly doesn’t sync with Sestak’s recollection of a 30-60 second “in passing” mention by Clinton.
Obama/Emanuel are well versed in the Chicago way. You always have a few degrees of separation when deals are proposed. You start small with a hint or two to feel out the interest of the target in making a deal (that was the Clinton off hand probe). Then, depending on the response of the target, you up the ante with either a sweeter deal or a more serious contact person or both.
They also know how to offer a position without coming right out and saying it. They could allude to it, like “hypothetically, in the future, would you ever like to serve in a high level military position?” So you haven’t really made the offer. You’ve just played a game of “what do you want to be when you grow up?”
” And when questioned about the Secretary of the Navy offer, why didnt Sestak just flatly deny that? “
Bingo.
Sestak could have waved everyone off that, but, his constant “ no comments “ were a wink wink which reinforced that it was a high ranking job.
Yesterday’s “ luncheon “ with Clinton was an effort by the White House to get Bubba to take the fall and announce “ I over reached , this was all my idea ,
I was just posing hypotheticals to Sestak , I went rogue , I was just making conversation, my bad, no harm, no foul , yada, yada.”
Which would have been the best case scenario for everyone involved -
crazy , but , well meaning Uncle Bill wandered off the reservation on his own .
Clinton obviously refused , so the White House had no choice and went to Plan B - today’s ridiculous fairy tale.
” that efforts were made in June and July ..”
The non advisory nebulous board offer was the beginning point in the negotiations.
Like when you’re buying a car and the salesman ( Clinton ) takes your offer back to the manager.
So, everyone is telling the truth , just not the whole truth .
Sestak was obviously referring to the later offers , not the first offer.
And different salesman may have been involved , so when he says he only talked to Clinton once-it may be true.
Others were probably involved in the later communications.
Little Slick Sestak was just that today-too cute by half .
This scandal screams for a Special Prosecutor.
You got it. Not only did Clinton refuse to take the fall, he also refused to allow them to get away with claiming that the ONLY contact initiated with Sestak was Clinton's.
In the WH memo, they write that "efforts" (plural) were made in June and July of 2009 to determine if Sestak would consider an advisory position. Clinton wasn't going to let them get away with just saying that ONE contact, that of Clinton, was the only effort made. They were going to have to admit that there was more than one. He wasn't going to be singled out.
Sestak apparently didn't pick up on the plural efforts, because he was saying at the presser that the only contact was a 30-60 second off the cuff mention by Clinton.
Krauthammer picked up on the "efforts", but most of the rest of the press is behind the curve on that.
“Is this the issue that will finally bag the bag?”
It just feels like things are speeding up, doesn’t it? For once most of the public is aware of Obama’s ineptitude via the oil leak. At the same time, the Sestak matter heats up. You almost expect another shoe to drop. Obama’s boneheaded determination to spend Memorial weekend in Chicago, with the tomb of the Unknown Soldier neglected (by him) and the oil continuing to despoil the southern shores will NOT play well. We’ve definitely come to an interesting juncture.
Just watching Hannity and Newt Gingrich mentioned the possibility of two conversations- one with Clinton and the other with Rahm Emmanuel. No one is asking Sestak if anyone else approached him other than Clinton. It appears Bauer is smart enough to mention “efforts”, but the one time closed mouth Sestak is now having no trouble mentioning the Clinton contact- probably hoping no one asks him if there were other contacts.
What a corrupt government we have! Sestak sounded somewhat angry when he made his first statement about the job offer. Today, he tried to brush it off as a 30 second meaningless conversation with Clinton. I was thinking back to Eric Massa—how angry he was initially, then he shows up on Glenn Beck with nothing to say. It almost smells like mafiosa tactics at work here....like if you open your mouth, you get taken aside and given a “talking to.” And the worst part is, the media which is supposed to expose corruption sits by and acts as a cheerleader....
Democrat control the House, The Senate, One more and they will have the Supreme court. Holder at the Justice department, Obma can get away with just about anything, because he owns the media also. It’s a little scary.
Doesn't that depend on the meaning of 'is'? ;-)
No, everybody else won’t see the truth either. I suspect that “Lovable Lindsey” Graham will come to the White House’s defense on this and McPain would too if he didn’t have a primary. Our problem is the uninformed Republican primary voters.
