ppearing on the Alex Jones radio show May 26th discussing a variety of issues, Congressman Ron Paul said that he 'had some reservations' about Arizona's new immigration law, SB 1070. 'I have some reservations about that law, but not its' intent', remarked the former presidential candidate and libertarian icon, whose son Rand Paul just won the Republican primary race for U.S. Senate in Kentucky.
Paul is not the first conservative libertarian to voice concerns about the law.

Those on FR who follow this Neo Leftist cult need to get a clue.
Makes sense. The Libertarian position is a bit isolationist. That would imply closed borders, would it not?
Does anyone that is NOT a complete nutter LISTEN to that drivel?
“Makes sense. The Libertarian position is a bit isolationist. That would imply closed borders, would it not?”
We thought so...but not if it hurts the Dems, I guess.
Uncomfortable truths about “the hero”.
*crickets*
“Rand Paul is going to be way more trouble than he is worth.”
The democrat candidate welcomes your support.
Hey Rabadash Rabs, come on over and defend your kook candidate. It seems he's just as bad as McCain when it comes to immigration, and somehow you never told us.
We know you won't come cause you're probably a simpering coward.
Hellooooo Rabsss!
Ron Paul apparently is not as good on the Border issues as you thought he was.
Got any comments?
Democrat Jack Conway is considered -- by the Washington Post, even -- to be the most liberal statewide candidate in Kentucky history.
The contrast with Pro-Life, Pro-Gun, Fiscally conservative Rand Paul could not be more clear; the need to elect Rand Paul and keep this "Kentucky Kennedy" out of the US Senate could not be more pronounced.
The problem with Rand Paul is that he may just drive people to vote for a more normal candidate. But the bigger problem is that the media will try to smear other candidates in other states with Paul’s odd views. The media will be jamming their cameras in GOP leadership faces and demanding that they denounce Paul’s views until November. It’s already happened with his nuanced offhand comments about the Civil Rights bill.
Count on it, chickadee. My question is when will the GOP dis-associate itself from this phony? Rand Paul is libertarian, not Republican.
That is true, but the Republicans in KY should have taken a harder look at Rand Paul. He is the November election blessing the Dems have been hoping for. The Pauliacs are an enthusiastic bunch, but they are small. A few more eccentric pronouncements from Rand Paul . . . well, let’s just say he will probably this year’s Sarah Palin, as far as the media is concerned.
The GOP will be depicted as a bunch of wild-eyed fanatics with eccentric views. If Paul hadn’t run as a Repub, it might have been ok.
There's nothing wrong with saying that a law's wording might not be perfect, even when one fully supports the intent. Every Congressman knows that legislation is a sausage-making process.
In other words, BFD.
“The problem with Rand Paul is that he may just drive people to vote for a more normal candidate.”
My FRiend, in this race there exists no “normal” candidate. There was never GOING to be a “normal” candidate. You have Paul or a Socialist.
NOt a choice I’d like, but Grayson was no prize either.
If Paul hadn't run as a Republican, there would have been two Democrats in the race.
I'm glad that he is (at least "officially") on the GOP side now, but it hasn't been all that long since Bill-Clinton-Democrat Trey Grayson switched his voter registration. Just since he realized he might have an easier time winning as a "Republican".
Ron Paul is an idiot today, he was an idiot yesterday, and he will forever be an idiot.
If he cannot understand the simple language of the bill then he is nothing more then a piece of Sh*# in my opinion, but I have always thought that of him.
He again just does what he has always done, “Opened his mouth and removed all doubt”!
Because in tearing down the GOP Senate candidate for Kentucky, that's all you're doing.
Well, then, the GOP leadership will have to suck it up and tell the media to go interview Rand Paul if they want to know more about his views. Boehner and McConnell will just have to man up. This should be something to see.
If they refuse to play the media’s game, the media will move on.
I’ve had qualms about Ron Paul, but I’ve generally been indifferent towards him. In fact, I’m pretty sure I’ve never even posted a negative thing about him. But after his vote last night to homosexualize the armed services, and today’s knock against the Arizona law... well, frankly the bastard can just go to Hell.
That's all any Republican or Independent needs to know to vote for Rand Paul.
