The 9/11 Mosque
The Washington Times ^ | May 27, 2010 | Editorial

Posted on 05/27/2010 7:43:06 PM PDT by Abakumov

The area around the former World Trade Center is a sacred space. It is a place where thousands of Americans' lives were taken by the purveyors of a hostile ideology based on Islam. The Cordoba House, a 13-story mosque and Islamic cultural center planned for a site near Ground Zero, is at best inappropriate, and at worst an attempt to hijack the memory of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks....

The United States should ban any overseas funding for construction of religious sites originating in countries that do not allow religious freedom and end the one-way relationship that allows those promoting Islam an unfair advantage over other faiths. Furthermore, Ms. Khan and Mr. Rauf should come clean about the expected sources of funding for the Cordoba House. It would be ironic and tragic (if not surprising) if the same channels that seek to build the Ground Zero mosque also underwrote the attacks that made it necessary to build a memorial.

The "religion of peace" has some very violent adherents, and they are increasingly active on U.S. soil. It's a sign of cultural weakness that Americans are afraid to say no to a mosque on the most prominent site of jihadist victory in the United States.

The Mexicans can come up here and give us the middle finger to our faces, why can’t the Muslims?

How the firemen, police and victim’s families are allowing this is beyond me.

I’d be stringing up politicians if I lost a family member there...

In a heated meeting on Tuesday evening, families, cops firemen and local citizens showed their dismay. Then the community committee voted 29-1 in favor of building. I just can’t fathom this. I have worked in downtown NYC for 30 yrs. I am disgusted. I’m sure Jerry Nadler approves also.

Don’t fret over this.

You must realize that the land is controlled by New Yorkers.

A Mosque is a fitting tribute to their position in the effort to stop radical islam.

Its not scared ground, its just Uber Blue NYC dirt.

I was there after the attacks.

I saw the hole, the cross, the cards, flowers and mementos on the Church fence across the street.

A lot has changed since then.

I tossed out all my WTC/ NYFD hats.T shirts and key chains while Bush was still President.

middle eastern muslims have a track record of building upon the historical/religious sites of other peoples in an attempt to deny the proof of past existence. it has happened throughout Israel and the middle east to jewish and christian sites

"Then the community committee voted 29-1 in favor of building."

They will win any reelections and or elections they run in.

That does seem to be their M.O. kind of like a dog marking its territory. It's a way of showing a people they are conquered. The WTC in their mind represented American capitalism even more than the Capitol or Pentagon, so in their mind this is about conquest. Any politician or liberal apologist who doesn't see the symbolism of this site or the fact that the planned dedication date of this mosque is Sept 11, 2011 has their head in the sand.

In 20 years we'll be a country of Dhimmi paying the jizra tax.

This just proves what we all know. A voting majority of New York City residents couldn’t recognize islamic terrorism even if crashed a plane into a building, twice.

Cordoba House: a symbol of muslim conquest of kuffar lands and peoples:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caliph_of_Córdoba

When those who are pushing the construction of “Cordoba House” say that they are “peaceful”, it’s nothing but a muslim SCAM as usual!!!!

This mosque will eventually be the Islamic version of the Statue of Liberty. It will be a lamp for a new tide of immigrants. They will not be motivated by freedom but motivated to end freedom. The are now a political movement. Why people are indifferent to this is a mystery to me.

Back in the 1960's there was the college campus protest chant of, "Hey, hey, ho,ho Western Civ has to go!"

These people were listening.

Will union construction workers refuse to work on this or allow it to go forward? Just wondering...

Might as well build a Mexican embassy on the grounds where the Alamo stood, down here in my beloved Texas.

The Alamo building you see now when you go to San Antonio is a reconstruction, the Mexicans razed most of the original buildings after Colonels Travis and Crockett, Jim Bowie and the others fell. As far as I know from Texas History class, anyway.
