The light-brown material that was seen spilling out of the well throughout Thursday was the previously pumped fluid from the "top kill" procedure mixed with oil, he said..."I probably should apologize to folks that we haven't been giving more data on that," Suttles said when asked why it took so long for BP to announce it had suspended the top kill.

NOTUS—I like that!
What worries me when I see the live feed is that BP is blowing mud and junk into that hole, but it seems to me that they should be blowing it DOWN the hole and overcoming the UP pressure of the oil.
Instead, I see a huge billowing cloud of brown blowing UP from the hole. Either they are not blowing it DOWN or the pressure inside is forcing it back UP.
That IS what my eyes are seeing. Someone tell me why I shouldn’t trust my lying eyes.
Zero was emphatic yesterday that HIS Administration has been in charge from DAY ONE.
holding meetings, photo-ops, threats to the oil industry, and all the while the oil keeps on spewing.
It isn't even close. The Ixtoc spill in 1980 dumped as much as 430 million gallons into the same Gulf of Mexico.
Saddam Hussein dumped 400 million gallons into the Persian Gulf in 1990. Seven years prior to that, another 130 million gallons were spilled in the Persian Gulf in the Nuwruz disaster.
Both Gulfs survived.
It ain't gettin better.
Has anyone even started drilling a release hole?
Where is Obama golfing today?
.....looks like she just popped her cork.....
I think the effort to plug this leak just came to an end.
The immense pressure and flow rate they inject the mud causes it to go out the leaks AND down the hole. As long as the leaks are not plugged, they will flow during this injection.
Until enough heavy mud gets down the deep casing to overcome the field pressure and then they cement, the leaks will continue.
Something sure happened and it don’t look good.
It looks like the robots are withdrawing. That was definitely an explosion of some sort.
By the way, there are tens of thousands of wells in the Gulf of Mexico and hundreds of thousands around the world.
I have a ?. If there is all this oil spewing from the well, why is the ROV picture so clear?
They are supposedly monitoring the plume, bunch of white stuff and an occasional blob of oil why is it not sticking to the ROV lens?
ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wasn’t watching. What did you see?
Would all of the chicken little’s just chill out and quit listening to Mass Communciations graduates opine about the kill process. The casing of the well is compromised. They are pumping at different rates and pressures to determine the minimum amount necessary to overbalance the well. If they pump too hard, then the casing will rupture below the BOP’s and they will have an underground blowout. In that case, your only hope is the two replacement wells. With all of their optimism yesterday, I don’t think BP would continue saying it was going to work if they thought otherwise.
I was wondering that myself. Would that not lessen some of the pressure?
Relief wells have been under way since May 2nd.
Am I seeing wave action at 5,000 feet? Anyone know what just happened?
