looking for a good movie or documentary on the Hurtgen Forest battle
We’re REALLY dating ourselves as FR oldtimers here!
First thing I thought of when I saw the title of the thread. :)
Many years ago, there was a poster on FR who used the screen name "DeepintheHurtgenForest". He was supposedly on active duty but turned out to be a poser. There was another a little later who went by "ClassyGreenEyedBlonde" who, I believe, turned out to be a guy.
Yep. Hi Travis. We sure do have some stories to tell, eh?
Oh yes, that was an interesting episode in FR history.
I don’t think it was ever determined for certain that ClassyGreenEyedBlonde was a she but s/he he was definitely a phoney.
How could I forget? Who was it finally busted him, sneakypete? Ah, the good old days...
I remember that time. Not sure I was registered or lurking then, but A+Bert and Ash were around about then, too.
A+bert! I loved that old coot. He’s the sort of person you keep around to reassure yourself that you are not, in fact, drinking too much.
Ooooh, what about quidnunc? And that lawyer - Jack something, Thompson maybe - who wanted to sue everybody for everything?
You’re class of ‘00, you remember correctly. Do you remember Don Morgan’s Ash alerts?
I loved A+Bert when he was sober!
Yes, I remember them. There was a quidam and a quidnunc, as I recall, I always got them mixed up.
Jack Thompson the Disbarred One.
When was that?
Do you remember when Jim took A+Bert’s + away? That was a hoot.
I do remember that! AWESOME.
Yes, I do remember Ash Alerts. Did JR post a lot more, around that time too?
Remember “Italians” as in “Don’t forget to close your Italians” and all the pages that were huge letters and the piles of cartoons?
You know, that one time. I think is was a Saturday.
oh..! Scary and embarrassing...!
He claimed a completely foolish service record:

Totally ridiculous...!
I think that SneakyPete or HarpSEAL got suspicious and had some veteran certification outfit check him out, and he was unmasked.
He pennned some sentimental bye-bye opus in which he alleged he fabricated the service record in order to “spreak awareness” of something or other.
He never served in the US military.
