They’re pumping mud down into the well at such high pressure that there is a significant risk of causing a secondary explosion that will be worse than the first. That’s the very reason they’ve held off on using this method of “plugging the damn hole.”

What about harvesting the oil? They’re not even considering that option (If it’s still an option)?
