It suddenly all makes sense why the White House thinks it can decide what they’re doing is legal or illegal –they must be taking advice from a former president who would know.

Why go back to Nixon? This apparently was the standard used by Dems in deciding not to convict Clinton of lying before a federal grand jury. The facts were not in dispute: indeed, a Clinton-appointed judge later stripped him of his law license over this unethical conduct. But the Dems opted to look the other way.
