Carly Fiorinas dramatic exit from Hewlett-Packard in 2005 was covered extensively by the media, and the former chief executive offered her side of the story in her memoirs. But as she campaigns for the Republican U.S. Senate nomination against two rivals, some voters say they are still trying to sort out what happened and how they feel about her dismissal.
One of them -- Craig Covello of Folsom -- took his chance to question her Wednesday night before an audience of several hundred people who gathered for a forum sponsored by the Tea Party Patriots of El Dorado Hills.
"Since you want to be a U.S. senator for California, which directly affects my life, why would I vote for you when I know what a snake pit it is in Washington and the political maneuvering that goes [on] there?" Covello asked. You got bumped out of HP, and Im sorry to be that direct about it ..."
"Youre really not offending me," Fiorina interrupted. "I got fired from HP, OK guys? Its OK, you can say it."

I voted for Chuck DeVore!!!
So you'd prefer a life-long bureaucrat or elected official who got voted out of office before only to try and return?
“She didnt answer my question,” he said, adding that he is leaning toward one of Fiorinas rivals, Assemblyman Chuck DeVore of Irvine.
We don't need another politician in Washington who knows how to run things into the ground -- there are enough of them there already.
Why anyone would want her to decide the outcome of their very daily life is beyond me.
DeVore!
Well, if she’s a dork about business that’s too bad. But does she have the best chance to win the seat.
Wouldn’t anyone be better than the boxer?
Voted for Chuck Devore.
DeVore polls better against Boxer.
It’s a lot harder to fire a Senator than it is a CEO..
Why take a chance?
Go Chuck!
And before that she destroyed one of the best R&D establishments, Bell Laboratories. Was she a hire of Robert Allen when he was messing up AT&T? (referring to executive level, not when she was at Ma Bell as a management trainee).
Thanks for bringing this up about Fiorina’s illustrious corporate history. I was in Bell Labs when all of this transpired and I am one of the many casualties of this woman’s incompetence.
I hope and pray that California doesn’t send her to DC.
I’m actually praying that Californians do vote her in. That way it will motivate the conservatives in CA and around the nation to become even more pissed off and unified.
I think the Pubbies that are in the CA state house and senate should just resign so the Dems can take full credit for destroying the state.
The company you pine for was in the same class as Amdahl, Unisys, Data General, Texas Instruments, are you sensing a pattern here? The HP that was, and I worked with and on many of their very fine pieces of equipment was a dinosaur on the edge of extinction. Carly was hired and tasked to change directions and she did that. When this was done, like many transitional CEO's she was let go because they wanted a fresh start with the newly configured company and left all of the bad blood and hard feelings with the "Bad Cop" CEO.
In reality, HP lives and it surely would have died without her.
One of the ex-Directors of Intel said this just yesterday in an OP-ed. Folks who know, who understand the meat grinder that she went through appreciate how well her work turned out. Even if you don't.
If you voted by mail, it is likely your vote will get ‘lost’.
Yeah her work turned out well for the globalists as she shipped jobs to China and India and boasted about using low pay communist educated workers.
By 1998, when Fortune dubbed her the most powerful woman in business, Fiorina was president of Lucent's Global Service Provider division, the company's core business unit. Selling products that made network communication possible, including networking systems and software for phones, Fiorina rode the rising tide of demand for network technology from American businesses. Under her watch, the company's market share increased in every region for every product.
Mmmm.. this doesn't sound alot like running Bell Labs into the ground. Huh.
Yes, Bell Labs was run into the ground. Lucent was bought out by Alcatel, so there really is no Bell Labs anymore, just something barely resembling it. Most of the research locations were closed down.
As for the Lucent stock, It went up very high, then crashed and burned. Oh yea, Fiorina is a business genius. Everything she touches turns to sh*t.
Fiorina is in poor health. She has more than enough money to retire and take care of her health issues. However, the call of DC power and prestige is too strong for her to resist.
