Chiefs of Navy, Army, Air Force, and Marines Oppose DADT Repeal

The heads of the Army, Marines, Air Force, and Navy oppose the current amendment to repeal "don't ask, don't tell." Senator John McCain's office just released letters from the chiefs of the armed services, as well as a statement from the senator urging Congress to let the military complete its study before taking legislative action.

“I cannot over emphasize the importance of completing the comprehensive review prior to taking any legislative action," says McCain. "Our military is currently engaged in two wars and we need to have a true assessment of the impact of repealing ‘Don’t Ask Don’t Tell’ on battlefield effectiveness prior to taking any legislative action. We must remain focused on what is in the best interest of our service men and women and not simply fulfill a campaign promise.”

I sent this letter to my Rep and the Senators.

Regarding Congressional legislation to scrap “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”, advocates rely for foundational credibility on the 1973 decision by the American Psychiatric Association (APA) to remove homosexuality from its Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM). Responded to a two year campaign Newsweek described as ongoing disruptive, chaotic attacks on psychiatrists and physiologists. Yet at this annual meeting and throughout this period of disruptive attacks, no papers were presented refuting any research previously done.

Eventually a third of APA’s 17,000 plus membership voted for removal. The under-voting and public attacks support the understanding that the decision came through intimidation, and not as a result of scientific reasoning. The process for this protracted dispute institutionalized an alternative to undergoing the mental stress and discipline of research. Now an interest group could publicly market their claim, and tailor the DSM to fit their agenda. Therefore, the way opened for the DSM to accumulate political manifestos and marketing brochures as much as attempts at scientific exposition.

After this mercurial, but unsubstantiated, decision a task force was established to ensure perpetual sanctity for this APA action. No research papers would again arise to confirm initial therapy success rates of 30% to 60 % substantiating that 7 of 10 homosexuals could eventually walk away from the lifestyle forever. This new task force would set standards for peer review of articles to ensure appropriate flexibility in design definitions, outcomes, and analytical models. Acceptable pre-ordained theses would compile selected human data points, using selected questions and behaviors, and arrive at pre-approved incites.

Psychology and Psychiatry have chosen to abandon all pretense of scientific rigor in exchange for popular societal and political acclaim. The barriers erected to meaningful research about homosexuality remind me of Genesis 3:23-24. In these verses the Lord God banished humanity from the Garden of Eden and placed an angel in the Garden to keep humanity away forever. By their actions, Psychology and Psychiatry appear content within their own Garden of Eden. They seem to consider the accoutrements of a religion to be more attractive than those of a science.

The current debate is fraudulent, because these two disciplines cannot make a meaningful contribution. They should lead a debate, which would examine whether any mental disorders are acceptable for people seeking or retaining military service. Instead they underwrite the thoughtless political and societal acclamation keynoting discussions. In such an environment, there is little chance people will consider military service should always be the ultimate meritocracy to compete successfully against enemies unconcerned with social engineering.

They should all threaten publicly to resign if it goes into effect.

If DADT is lifted, the little pinklings will think it's just "fabulous." Too bad they'd never face this guy...

This is a no-brainer...

It sure as hell does not require a “review”...

NO FREAKING HOMOS SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO SERVE IN THIS NATION’S ARMED FORCES, PERIOD!

What? The Coast Guard wouldn't tell?

Nobody needed to ask , they had nothing to tell .

When the crew removed certain letters(p,o,t and g,l) from the name of the Cutter "Point Glass" during re-painting it was a joke . Some thought it more funny than others .

Politicians have no clue about military bearing, morale, discipline and esprit de corps.

This will destroy all of those.

If you watched MSNBC last night (alone) you would think this is a sure thing. Maddow claims she was told democrats have the votes. Matthews said to call your congressman and demand the ‘right to serve’ (not kidding. ) Sounds like they plan on voting on an amendment to a overall military spending bill, to fund the 'troops'.

So what! Our Community Organizer-In-Chief went to Harvard...and Columbia. And he's a lawyer. He served in the US Senate for about 100 days and, according to him, once considered joining the Armed Forces.Who in this country could *possibly* be better qualified to decide such issues than him?

If it's repealed GnySgt Hartman's statement "I've got your name..I've got your a$$" will take on a whole new meaning.

If this is enacted I predict that we'll see Chrissy hanging out much more often at the gates of Fort Bragg and Camp Pendleton (rumor has it that he likes 'em big and brawny).

No more articles on this tonight, at least. The men actually in charge of the branches of the military do NOT want homosexuals in the military. DADT means - or is supposed to mean - that if there are homosexuals, they are supposed to be silent, not obvious, not open, and therefore no one should know. Unfortunately it doesn't always work that way, and that is why DADT SHOULD be repealed - back to "Ask, tell, and if the answer is the wrong answer, out the door!".

I called my Congressman and asked point blank: “Who is going to pay for the cost of HIV transmission if Obama mandates acceptance of homosexual behavior in the barracks?” This usually shuts down the idiots who think open homosexuality will have no effect on unit cohesion.

The deviant pandering filthy prog vermin we call politicians are doing everything in their power to undermine our military. Letting these disgusting perverts have access to young boys seems to be the trend in the degeneration of America.
