The Larsen campaign has released a short animation on Leonard Lance's vote for the Cap and Trade Bill and its disastrous consequences for the citizens of New Jersey.
Available on the campaign website (http://davidlarsenforcongress.com/index.php/cap_and_trade_in_congressional_district_7), the animation highlights how Lance sided with Democrats House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate President Harry Reid in voting for Cap and Trade. Lance was one of only eight Republicans to vote for the bill.
Cap and Trade places restrictions or caps on the amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) manufacturers and other businesses can emit, forcing industry to purchase permits to offset the CO2 they are producing. Â This is tantamount to imposing massive taxes on already struggling businesses, which then must pass on the costs to the consumer in the form of higher prices.
The Heritage Foundation estimates that if Cap and Trade becomes law, it would cost each family in NJ $3,100 per year. In addition, Cap and Trade would cause Americans to lose jobs as the cost of producing energy skyrockets and companies have to cut back, resulting in layoffs. Cap and Trade is aimed at lowering carbon dioxide emissions, but that is already happening. According to the Energy Information Administrations, U.S. carbon dioxide emissions are down 9% as of August 2009 (www.eia.doe.gov).
Larsen says, "Cap and Trade is just another energy tax and the 'permits' are simply another way for the government to grow even bigger. Isn't President Obama's new Healthcare tax enough already? Shouldn't Congressman Lance be trying to stop Obama and Pelosi from spending us into bankruptcy? Instead, he is joining in their spending spree."
Larsen cites Lance's quote that he voted "for this bill because it is time America turned the corner and took bold action to clean the environment and develop alternative energy"(6/26/09).
Larsen says, "Mr. Lance believes in man-made climate change and is strongly supported by the Sierra Club, a liberal-leaning environmentalist group that opposes any effort on our part to tap our own enormous reserves of coal, oil and natural gas or to construct more nuclear power plants. Tapping into our natural resources would make us more energy independent and create thousands of jobs."
Not necessarily relevant to your interests ping, but you know some guys named Leonard Lance ping.
Ping.
Lance is a lib - a real RINO who has supported gay rights agendas in the past.
Lance held a town hall meeting at Raritan Valley College and insisted he still favors cap and trade. The entire audience disagreed with him, but of course, as an ‘elite’ politician he knows better.
good job
He’s NJ’s version of the vile Mark Kirk.
Thanks!
