Hmmm...and Kennedy’s FBI file is still sealed? And Obama’s grandfather’s FBI file destroyed? Very interesting.

Jesse Helms earned my respect when he singlehandedly stopped the nomination of Hormel to be Ambassador of Switzerland. That whole week, the Clinton spin machine was in high gear, trying to intimidate him into caving. Instead, he stood firm.

He never went on the Sunday shows because he was teaching Sunday School. My theory is that the reason he never caved like Newtie, Trentie, and the rest of the squishy pansies is that because he had sterling character and had no skeletons in his closet, as well as no dead girls or live boys in his bed.

Because Zeewoe, the Dems, & their corrupt ilk are in deep doo-doo and they need a diversion.

Senator Helms was one of the most personal people to ever meet in person. Many many many NC citizens got thru stupid fed red tape thanks to Senator Helms. Definitely one of the best (top 3) senators to ever represent NC in its entire history.

His office always responded in writing to his constituents. We sure need more Jesse Helms in the US Goobermint.

One of the few Republican Senators to also vote against the communist MLK holiday.

MLK's FBI files are frozen until 2030.

Yup, it makes one wonder why commies like Kennedy and King have their records sealed...

Is it because the American public would actually see and fully understand how said persons helped destroy this country?

I wish he were still there to stand up to Senator Turban, Comrade Sanders, Chuck U. Schumer, Senator Leakey, and the rest of the America hating subversives.

The FBI releases it’s file after the subject dies. Kennedy’s family is currently fighting the release of Teddy’s file. This attack on Jesse Helms is probably an “everybody does it” prempt. Teddy’s file will be interesting - if it is released in full and not censored by O’thugga.

Jesse Helms is second only to Ronald Reagan on my list of great 20th century American heros who helped engineer the collapse of the evil empire.

I live in Minnesota, I called Jesse's office with national concerns twice, both times I received a non form letter follow up note to my home in Minnesota that detailed exactly what we had discussed. It was obvious that the person I talked with had personally written the responding letter after our conversation.

I was impressed, my own Minnesota Congressmen send out catch all form letters, usually so vague as to be meaningless.

“Jesse Helms is second only to Ronald Reagan on my list of great 20th century American heros who helped engineer the collapse of the evil empire.”

I agree and I would round out the top three with the late Congressman Larry McDonald who worked with Eastern European dissidents via his Western Goals Foundation. He was leading the nationwide Birch Society back up from the abyss. His record in Congress was second to none.

Exactly...no nonsense country boy...that was Jesse....a man of integrity whether you agreed with him or not, there was no doubt he was a straight shooter.

Let me get this straight. A simple FOIA request garners a long-serving United States Senator's most likely unvetted FBI files less than two years after the gentleman passes away, but the Floater Ted's file release is being "fought" by La Familia.

Isn't that special.

Pardon me, folks, but there was a time when decency was common, and it was possible to speak of "common decency." Nevertheless, there's nothing honorable about WRAL's giddy action in this situation.

It's about the same as McGinnis setting up surveillance next door to the former Governor's guest bathroom up in Wasila.

The best thing about having such a depraved and degenerate press corp is their predictability. Something Jesse taught us well. He knew how to get them to publicize stories they would otherwise deliberately ignore, for example.

Here's how he did it.

Jesse would deliberately take his main message and seed it with a borderline "controversial" statement, knowing the press corp is stupid enough to believe everyone thinks the way they do. The headline would be the "controversial" comment, but the story would inevitably include the message Jesse wanted to get out. Like clockwork the story would be blasted on the front pages. What the press corp never figured out is that most of their audience not only got the message they almost always agreed with the sentiment of the "controversial" statement.

You can definitely know how great a man was by the enemies he cultivated, just by telling it like it was. Give me 300 more like him and we could not only save it, we could once again advance our civilization.

Nice little anecdote.

That he knew how to manipulate the media is because he worked in the media himself. He was a commentator on WRAL-TV for several years and he worked with the lefty Raleigh (NC) News and Observer rag.

I remember when he had a commentary on WRAL, before he ran for Senate
