Heard it this morning and was disgusted at his ignorance to the threat at hand.
Does the law treat mosques like it does other churches?
Fox has big Saudi investors.
Just saying...
This is Ron Paul’s foreign policy are two of the best examples of why I do not take Libertarians seriously even though I often agree with them.
Duh.
for the ill informed, here is an account of peaceful islam over the last 1400 years, but, from the Indian perspective....

I tend to agree with Beck regarding the government involvement.
If Obama had the power, he’d ban Christian Churches and Jewish temples(?) in the name of “diversity”.
Government and religion is a bad combo.
As far as I’m concerned the entire Western World...the US included...should outlaw the practice of islam as a matter of self defense. Islam is not a religion, per se, it’s a total, unified, political, cultural, economic, and judicial code of life that is completely at odds and opposed to our western heritage.
Beck is turning out to be a libertarian whacko, I’ve deleted him from my Tivo schedule and really don’t care what he says anymore.
Disagree with Beck on this. Islam by it’s very nature seeks to replace our government with an Islamic theocracy. In other words, it is a direct threat to our Constitution, therefore innately seditious.
Islam can only exist in America if they, corporately and individually, renounce Sharia law and theocratic goals. They do not mix culturally, socially or politically in our country and ALL Islamic immigration should be stopped in its tracks - period.
Beck does a phenomenal job at exposing the ‘progressive ‘ movement along with their leadership roles.
He serves a purpose in the conservative movement but is not in a leadership role but rather in a commentary one.
We are not going to agree on everything in this country and people are entitled to their OPINIONS.
I’d ‘agree to disagree’ with Beck and leave it at that.
Do I approve of this mosque? NO! It is a thumb in the eye of all Americans and especially New Yorkers. And...There is plenty that we as citizens can do privately and legally to prevent its construction.
But,.....
Please remember that any government powerful enough to give you what you want ( in this case banning a mosque) is also powerful enough to take from you what you want ( a future church zoning permit).
I suggest a vigorous boycott of any businesses related to its construction. I would also remind these businesses that citizens can think up a **lot** of creative ( and legal) ways to delay construction and make it highly unprofitable for these businesses to finish the building in a timely manner. And...As citizens, if it does manage to get finished, we could think up many interesting ( and legal) ways to see that no one was able to use the building.
The First Amendment protects the Mosque from the Federal government.
It’s the same clause that protects Christians’ right to pray.
However, there is perhaps something the city of New York could do as far as building permits, or in the interest of public safety. Don’t count on Bloomberg to do anything of the like, though.
I heard the radio program. Beck is ignoring that we should consider us being a war with Islam. So is the rest of the country.
I actually agree. It is not a federal govt role to get involved. Local may have a role, but involvement here opens up the potential for them to tell churches and synagogues where to go. As we have learned to many times in the past, when the state is used for issues in our favor, it just opens up the opportunity for future abuse and misuse.
Beck? Never listened to him.
Is this just the first time he’s jumped the shark?
If Beck thinks the Government should not interfere with the Mosque placement across the street from Ground Zero, what would he say if the new replacement sky scrapper to the World Trade Center was going to be capped with a giant Islamic Crescent Moon? Would he still say “stay out of it”?
Does the Federal government own the land? or does NYC own it? Whose land is it that they are building on? Glenn is right, it’s not the federal governments job to stop a building. The real shame is that after 10 years we haven’t rebuilt those towers. Whose fault is that?
If the people of NYC can’t stop this mosque from being built then they deserve it. When will they STAND UP & replace their representatives? This is a local issue. And the people, if they care, need to react to it. Why aren’t they demanding the TOWERS be built FIRST before anything else is built?
What a piece of propaganda this is.
Beck is right. The government doesn’t have the right or grounds to say who can and can’t build a mosque. WE THE PEOPLE DO, but who listens to us?
