Sarah Palin's strange, unprofessional and paranoid grudge [Barf Alert]
WASHINGTON POST BLOG ^ | Tuesday May 25, 2010 | David Weigel

Posted on 05/25/2010 7:24:09 PM PDT by Bigtigermike

Sarah Palin took to her Facebook account today to inform her readers that Joe McGinniss, an award-winning reporter and author, had rented the house next door.

I saw Ben Smith flag this earlier today but did not really appreciate how strange and, frankly, immature Palin's post was until I read it.

Palin informs her readers that McGinniss is "overlooking my children’s play area" and "overlooking Piper’s bedroom." Alternately sounding angry and mocking, she refers to "the family’s swimming hole," which at first reference sounds like she's accusing McGinniss of checking out the Palins in their bathing suits, until you realize the family's "swimming hole" is Lake Lucille. And she posts a photo of the space McGinniss is renting, captioning it, "Can I call you Joe?"

Can somebody explain to me how this isn't a despicable thing for Palin to do? She describes McGinniss as the author of "the bizarre anti-Palin administration oil development pieces that resulted in my Department of Natural Resources announcing that his work is the most twisted energy-related yellow journalism they’d ever encountered."

Another way of putting it would be that McGinniss is an investigative journalist who wrote his first best-seller at age 26 and was shopping a book about Alaska and the oil industry when Palin was named John McCain's running mate. And another way of describing those "bizarre" pieces is that no one has ever challenged the facts in them.

Palin, who has an undergraduate degree in journalism, should understand that articles don't become untrue when the subjects don't agree with them.

Has McGinniss gone to an extreme to get a story? Well, we don't have his side yet -- not that this has prevented every other media outlet from typing up Palin's Facebook post like some lost Gospel.....

Joe McGuiniss is a pussy for only renting for five months and not wanting to experience the Alaskan winter.

McGuiniss and his wife Nancy Palin - I mean Nancy Doherty.

Palin sounds a bit like Ann Coulter. Politicians are not supposed to sound this way. Candid, that is.

Yes. There are devices that can bounce a laser beam off glass windows and hear voices inside. Wouldn’t surprise me at all. Sarah should be mighty careful.

“David Weigel - has started at the Washington Post as their man reporting on the conservative movement”

Per Wikipedia...
Gay Marriage Controversy
In May 2010 Weigel became the subject of much criticism when he referred to opponents of legalized gay marriage as “bigots” on Twitter. Weigel later apologized for the remark.

Per: http://www.politicsdaily.com/2010/05/04/washington-post-reporters-bigots-tweet-criticized-by-right/

“When The Washington Post recently hired blogger Dave Weigel to cover the conservative movement and the GOP, one right-leaning site, Newsbusters, was not impressed. “The paper has hired another blogger who has been critical of the Right,” it wrote, “and his beat will be, you guessed it, covering conservatives.”

Now, a Tweet Weigel sent out Saturday has confirmed conservatives’ fears. While much of official Washington was preparing for the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner, Weigel sent out the following Tweet: “I can empathize with everyone I cover except for the anti-gay marriage bigots. In 20 years no one will admit they were part of that.”

“Conservatives, whom Weigel is paid to cover, were understandably irate. Penny Nance, chief executive of Concerned Women for America (CWA) told me, “If (Weigel) ever tweeted that African-Americans are bigots on this issue he would no longer be employed by The Washington Post. His own arrogance disqualifies him as a serious journalist assigned to covering conservatives . . . for The Washington Post to assign him to cover Concerned Women for America is like assigning a weasel to watch the hen house.”

Dan Gainor, a vice president at the Media Research Center, told me, “This is how the Post covers the conservative movement: Find someone who doesn’t even understand the traditional values that made our nation great and then assign him to report on the right. Throw in the fact that Weigel loves to bash conservatives and he’s the ideal Postie. At the same time, the paper hired a hard-core lefty in Ezra Klein to advocate for the left. It’s a ridiculous double standard. The Post should be both embarrassed and ashamed.”

“When I confronted Weigel about his Tweet, he initially responded by Tweeting: “Unpleasant words are so much worse than watching 54% of your peers nullify your marriage,” a comment that struck me as the response of an activist more than a journalist. When I asked him of the ethics of such a Tweet being sent out by a reporter tasked with covering conservatives, he responded by explaining: “I like (and largely agree with) pro-lifers. But I do not understand or respect the motivation of anti-gay marriage campaigners.”
How can he now go to the Family Research Council’s “Value Voters Summit” and objectively report on it? How can his coverage of a Rick Santorum speech, for example, be trusted? Some have wondered why the Post would hire a non-conservative to cover the conservative movement. One obvious inference in light of this development is that conservatives are not welcome at that paper. Before joining The Washington Post, Weigel previously wrote for the libertarian “Reason” and the liberal Washington Independent. He frequently appears on such programs as NPR’s “Fresh Air” and MSNBC offerings, like Keith Olbermann and The Rachel Maddow Show.”

Thanks for the link. Hadn’t been aware of that, but fits very nicely with his views and comments on the Palin-McGinnis stalking episode, ie, totally unprofessional, and on a eyhical par with McGinniss. I guess birds of a feather flock together, or something.

if i were in the area, i think i’d arrange a ‘meeting’ with him at the local pub... or maybe take him ‘fishing’ somewhere... very ... remote

Yep, that guy had better watch himself out there - might get eaten by a stray Grizzly.

another thought would be to scatter bird seed all over the house and property... thereby attracting LOADS of birds...

which, when they take off, would ... lighten their load... all over his stuff

IIRC, Joe’s own son told Politico that his dad was waiting for Todd to leave so he could pick up the pieces?

Perhaps Todd Palin needs to spend "some quality time" with that scum pond living next door.

Todd Palin is always at home with Sarah except when he’s racing and he’s already met the new neighbor.

"Reagan was ignorant... Reagan was a grade “B” actor... barely capable of reading lines... Reagan's best supporting actor was Bonzo the Chimp... Bonzo should have put Reagan to bed instead... Reagan was abrasive... and far too Christian to be President... Reagan would blow up the world"... but we ALL know how that turned out and satan attacks those that he fears... America needs to scare the brimstone out of satan... we did it with Reagan and we have the opportunity to do it with Palin. The left always lets us know who they fear... and they fear Palin just as they did Reagan... and they trot out the same attacks for her that they had created for him. FUleftards!
