Interesting......

There are those who believe the end times are near—and apparently, there is something in the Bible that refers to earthquakes occurring worldwide near the end of time.

Some Biblical scholar here can tell me if there’s any truth to what I have heard.......

Matthew 24:6-8

“You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains.”

Every time it thunders, somebody claims the end of the world is near, but please notice that this scripture (which is clearly referring to the Roman sack of Jerusalem in AD 70, then morphing into an end-times prophecy) says that “these are the beginning . . .” and that “the end is still to come.”

Probably a nuke test.

This passage may be what you are referencing:

Matthew 24: 3-8 (Takes place after the Mt. Olivet Discourse)

...the disciples came to him privately, “Tell us, they said, “when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?”

“Jesus answered: Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in my name claiming “I am the Christ” and will deceive many. You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come.

Nation will rise against nation, and kingdoms against kingdoms. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places.”

Yep. Matthew 24:7 - 7"For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and in various places there will be famines and earthquakes.

Mark 13:8 - For nation will rise up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; there will be earthquakes in various places; there will also be famines. These things are merely the beginning of birth pangs.

Luke 21:11 - and there will be great earthquakes, and in various places plagues and famines; and there will be terrors and great signs from heaven.

Revelation 6:12 - 12I looked when He broke the sixth seal, and there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth made of hair, and the whole moon became like blood;

Revelation 8:5 - Then the angel took the censer and filled it with the fire of the altar, and threw it to the earth; and there followed peals of thunder and sounds and flashes of lightning and an earthquake.

Revelation 11:13 - And in that hour there was a great earthquake, and a tenth of the city fell; seven thousand people were killed in the earthquake, and the rest were terrified and gave glory to the God of heaven.

Revelation 16:17-20 - Then the seventh angel poured out his bowl upon the air, and a loud voice came out of the temple from the throne, saying, "It is done."

18And there were flashes of lightning and sounds and peals of thunder; and there was a great earthquake, such as there had not been since man came to be upon the earth, so great an earthquake was it, and so mighty.

19The great city was split into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell Babylon the great was remembered before God, to give her the cup of the wine of His fierce wrath.

20And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found.

Biblical prophecy (as noted above) mentions many earthquakes. Some of them quite horrific by the description.

I’ve been looking for a graph of earthquake frequency to see if they’ve been increasing, because it sure seems so.

Mark 13:7-8, Jesus speaking:
7When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 8Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places, and famines. These are the beginning of birth pains.

Matthew 24: Same “scene”
6You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 7Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8All these are the beginning of birth pains.

Luke 21:9-10
9When you hear of wars and revolutions, do not be frightened. These things must happen first, but the end will not come right away.”

10Then he said to them: “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. 11There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven.

Have the scholars replied back?

They’ve probably all been raptured.

That is true. I believe that professional hockey in Nashville and the two-time MVP of the NBA being a white Canadian are also signs of the Apocalypse...

Earthquakes have always occurred, and will always occur, but when the events of Matthew 24 begin, it will be obvious.

Birth pains start out with the contractions wide apart, which then begin to happen more frequently and with greater intensity as a child is about to be born.

Just as a mother in denial eventually has to admit she’s pregnant, there will be no doubt when these things come about that the end truly is at hand.

Yes. That’s Biblical.

However, it is evidently going to be toward the end of the 7 years of Tribulation and a very devastating one.
