I'm still looking at this...
Seismographs all over recorded an odd event about 7 hours ago.
Link to the live data (which may roll off in another hour or two, but I captured the page)

If this was a real common global event it should not read as uniforms at all station an the same time you should see it as a wave moving across the station across the globe ...
As all stations data must be transmitted via various tel-com networks to a central data collection point you need to look for a common choke point for the data stream that probably took a data hit

You were saying ...
Looks like theres a concentration around the Gulf of Mexico - are there more stations there for a reason?
What?! Did they set off that nuclear bomb already down the BP hole in the Gulf of Mexico? :-)
Or..., was that the well collapsing and more oil gushing out of the largest oil reserve in the Americas?

I was talking about a concentration of recording stations... and that would have been in place loooong before the BP oil mess.

What's your best take... I would need to know that topography of the data collection network first but real world if you get some off the wall data like this you check /double check your equipment first before going of on some tangent
FYI I use to work a global telcom backbone (including the data links for Sandia National Labs seismograph station around the world to monitor for nuk tests)...
Network hits happen

Those signals are nowhere near simultaneous. Someone simply does not know how to read seismic data...

Possibly had to do with a solar flare.
The big one in Brazil happened 30 min after a flare, around the time of the disturbances. Note the strongest seismic disturbances were nearest
the South Atlantic Anomaly (SAA) shown below; the weakest weren't:
