“very nice set of very expensive sets of Mercedes.”
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

As I was going to Texas
I met a man with seven sets
each set had seven sets?
How many Mercedes in all?

Kilpatrick gets 18 months to 5 years in prison

10:38 a.m. | An audible gasp just erupted in the courtroom as Groner just sentenced Kilpatrick to a maximum of 18 months to five years in state prison.

Deputies rushed up to a row where Kilpatrick friends and relatives are sitting. They escorted one unidentified woman out.

“Your testimony in this court amounted to perjury,” the judge told Kilpatrick. “Most compelling is that you lied to this court, continue to lie, after you pleaded guilty to lying....

“The initial 120 days incarceration did nothing to rehabilitate you.”

After the gasp from the audience, Kilpatrick was ordered to sign papers. Some reporters saw his hands shaking. Groner asked Kilpatrick’s lawyer, Schwartz, to assist the former mayor.

As the courtroom began to buzz, Groner raised his voice and ordered Kilpatrick to be swift.

“Sergeant could you secure the defendant please and put him in the back?” Groner said. A deputy then handcuffed Kilpatrick behind his back and led him to a side room. The former mayor kept looking over his shoulder, mouthing words toward his sister.

Kilpatrick failed to pay enough, judge says

10:35 a.m. |Judge Groner: “It was abundantly clear that during the course of your probation, you had the ability to substantially pay down the balance of your restitution which you failed to do.”

Groner says Kilpatrick was trying to please wife, not court

10:26 a.m. | Kilpatrick is shaking his head now as Groner talks about Kilpatrick’s million-dollar home and his lavish lifestyle in Texas.

Groner says Kilpatrick has made it clear that it is more important to him “to pacify your wife” than follow court orders.

“Probation is no longer an option. The terms of your earlier probation no longer apply; that ship has sailed,” Groner said. “This is all because of the actions of you, Mr. Kilpatrick. You were convicted ... all because you lied under oath. That lie ... was part of a broader attempt to cover up your misdeeds while serving as mayor.

“You challenged this court’s authority,” Groner said. “You attempted to utilize semantics and exploit loopholes. The broader context of this issue is that your family living expenses — including living in a million-dollar home, driving a brand new Escalade and purchasing elective surgery for your wife — you have made it perfectly clear that it’s more important to pacify your wife than comply with my orders.”

Groner said Kilpatrick will get 120 days credit, meaning his minimum term would be 14 months. That would put him in a Michigan prison.

Kilpatrick was handcuffed in the court and led away.
