The White House attempted to push back against allegations that Barack Obama or his staff attempted to bribe Joe Sestak into withdrawing from the Democratic Senate primary by offering him a job, but they may be creating bigger headaches with their defense. Axelrod tells CNNs John King that there is no evidence that the bribe attempt ever happened, even while he acknowledges that it would have been a serious breach of the law. In order to believe that there is no evidence, though, one has to discount the repeated direct testimony of Sestak himself (via The Daily Caller):
Senior adviser to the president David Axelrod said Monday evening that there is no evidence that White House officials tried to keep a Democratic congressman from entering the Pennsylvania Senate race by offering him a high-ranking government job.
When the allegations were made, they were looked into. And there was no evidence of such a thing, Axelrod said on CNNs John King USA.
Axelrod acknowledged that if White House officials dangled a job in front of Rep. Joe Sestaks face to keep him away from challenging incumbent Sen. Arlen Specter, that would constitute a serious breach of the law.
Axelrod also acknowledged that there were conversations involving White House officials and Sestak, but said that those had been looked at by White House lawyers and their conclusion was that it was perfect the conversations were perfectly appropriate.

Thanks :)
Axelrod is plain wrong: Sestak’s statement is evidence in and of itself. Maybe not conclusive, but it IS evidence.
The White House is calling Sestak a liar? I guess this will help his standings in PA now?
IOW, they pulled every one into a room, either all together or one at a time, and asked them if they did it, and none of the congenital liars confessed.
This is my shocked face:
{:-o
There has to be others in the room with the dude. And anyone involved in a cover-up, even DC Bob press sec, could be in deep du du. Look at the Nixon deal where many went down. Just by not talking. These dembo’s don’t have ba!!s to stick to the cover-up. They will sing.
” When the allegations were made, they were looked into. And there was no evidence of such a thing, Axelrod said”
Pure Clintonian response.........
Not a word about being “ ethical” and no one would ever do something like that, just “ nothings provable, so move on”
“they pulled every one into a room, either all together or one at a time, and asked them if they did it”
I believe that in the interest of fairness, they first briefed everyone on the serious legal, employment (and perhaps physical) consequences that would face anyone found to be involved in such behavior, and further explained that due to their limitations, lie detector tests cannot be used as evidence in federal courts...
LOL.
No doubt. They probably added that the TV show, “Lie to Me” is a bunch of malarkey and that nobody can really tell when a person is lying.
Exactly. But Republicans, except one or two, sit silent.
“No evidence that Sestak is telling the truth”
Ah, Clinton-speak. I almost missed it.
YEAH! Sestak just made it up in order to damage his campaign!!! Makes perfect sense to me!
Actually, the majority in the Senate is so thin, they need Sestak. It will hurt them to write the checks to his campaign, but they'll do it. Unless they can find dirt on him and do a last second replacement with someone like NJ did with Toricelli.
Whenever I hear a politician say there’s “no evidence”, I know they’re guilty as hell. Hillary Clinton used to say this all the time back when she was First Lady.
“There’s NO EVIDENCE my million-to-one cattle futures jackpot was a disguised bribe!”
I never realized how much he looks like Hitler.
Tar... Feathers... Rails.... Horse whips... THEN lampposts!
This is cute, lets get into he said, she said and then judge the truth by past credibility-—Obie has no credibility when it comes to telling the truth...guilty...
Rahm Emmanuel perp walking in an orange jumpsuit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
