http://michellemalkin.com/2010/02/17/national-security-nightmare-john-brennan-and-the-notorious-flying-imam/

excerpt:

As head of the Tucson Islamic Center in Arizona (home to past jihadi dry-run plotters), Shahin preached that his followers must put Islamic sharia law above Western laws. He told the Arizona Republic that he doubted Muslims were behind the 9/11 terrorist attacks, concluding: “All of these, they make it up.” Brennan didn’t appear to know who Shahin was. Somebody around him should have briefed him: Shahin’s involvement in Hamas-linked charities and radical Wahhabi “youth groups” has earned the Jordanian-born naturalized citizen increased FBI scrutiny over the years.

Instead, Brennan treated him as just another innocent Muslim with “reasonable” concerns about the government. “We came to this country to enjoy freedom,” Shahin began with faux, flag-waving emotion. “We feel that since September 11, we aren’t enjoying these values anymore…Also, we feel that there’s a big lack of trust between Muslims’ community and our government…My question: Is there anything being done by our government to rebuild this trust?”

Instead of countering the narrative, exposing Shahin’s true intentions, and vigorously defending America’s homeland security apparatus, Brennan dutifully genuflected to the gods of political correctness. President Obama, he told the militant 9/11 inside-jobber and jihad white-washer, is “determined to put America on a strong course.”

No, not a “strong course” that includes national security profiling of Islamic radicals pretending they care about our country’s best interests. By “strong course,” Brennan assured Shahin, he meant a course towards assuaging the civil rights groups who have objected to every security program at airports, borders, train stations, and visa offices for the past nine years.

Brennan told Shahin that the post-9/11 response of the Bush administration was a “reaction some people might say was over the top in some areas” (insert indignant grievance-monger nodding and mmm-hmm-ing here) and that “in an overabundance of caution [we] implemented a number of security measures and activities that upon reflection now we look back after the heat of the battle has died down a bit we say they were excessive, okay.”

It gets worse: Brennan then went on to decry the “ignorant feelings” of Americans outraged at the jihadi attacks on American soil. And then he told Shahin and the audience of Muslim students that he “was very concerned after the attack in Fort Hood as well as the December 25 attack that all of sudden there were people who went back into this fearful position that lashed out not thinking through what was reasonable and appropriate.”

The Fort Hood jihadist slaughtered 14 innocent soldiers and an unborn baby after an Army career openly threatening the lives of our soldiers and Brennan is wringing his hands about the rest of us “lashing out” over government incompetence. He believes our true sin is not in the systemic underreacting by the military, homeland security, intel, and White House officials in charge, but in the “overreacting” of the American public.

With clueless capitulationists like Brennan in charge of our safety, who needs enemies?

Thanks for your post # 60. Michelle Malkin, as usual, hits the nail on the head. Brennan’s name and asinine quotes from him should be mentioned frequently by Republicans running for Congress this year.

Yes, cauterized was an interesting choice of verbs. Curiously, the article by Ken Timmerman was inaccessible at NewsMax. Here is the pointer:

http://www.newsmax.comhttp//www.newsmax.com/KenTimmerman/brennan-passport-breach/2009/01/12/id/337482

Timmerman is very close to many sources inside the agencies, perhaps a bit like Woodward, who worked for the CIA. There may well be an innocent reason, but others of his articles before and after this are still available. It is a significant article since Brennan has now become Obama’s Counter-terrorism Chief.

Even Jan 09 we were seeing a remarkable amount of scrubbing, demonstrating the control Obama’s cadre had over the media, so I saved the article. It is in pdf format so we'll see what comes out. My comments were from memory, but were fortunately accurate.

“Obama’s Intelligence Adviser Involved in Security Breach
Monday, January 12, 2009 1:46 PM

Obama’s top terrorism and intelligence adviser, John O. Brennan, heads a firm that was cited in March for breaching sensitive files in the State Department’s passport office, according to a State Department Inspector General’s report released this past July.

The security breach, first reported by the Washington Times and later confirmed by State Department spokesman Sean McCormack, involved a contract employee of Brennan’s firm, The Analysis Corp., which has earned millions of dollars providing intelligence-related consulting services to federal agencies and private companies.

During a State Department briefing on March 21, 2008, McCormack confirmed that the contractor had accessed the passport files of presidential candidates Barack Obama, Hillary Rodham Clinton, and John McCain, and that the inspector general had launched an investigation.
Sources who tracked the investigation tell Newsmax that the main target of the breach was the Obama passport file, and that the contractor accessed the file in order to “cauterize” the records of potentially embarrassing information. “They looked at the McCain and Clinton files as well to create confusion,” one knowledgeable source told Newsmax. “But this was basically an attempt to cauterize
the Obama file.”

At the time of the breach, Brennan was working as an unpaid adviser to the Obama campaign. “This individual’s actions were taken without the knowledge or direction of anyone at
The Analysis Corp. and are wholly inconsistent with our professional and ethical standards,” Brennan’s company said in a statement sent to reporters after the passport breach was made public.

The passport files include “personally identifiable information such as the applicant’s name, gender, social security number, date and place of birth, and passport number,” according to the inspector general report.
The files may contain additional information including “original copies of the associated documents,” the report added. Such documents include birth certificates,
naturalization certificates, or oaths of allegiance for U.S.-born persons who adopted the citizenship of a foreign country as minors.

The Obama campaign acknowledged at its “Fight the Smears” Web site that Obama was a foreign national until the age of 18, by virtue of his father’s British then Kenyan citizenship. “Since Sen. Obama has neither renounced his U.S. citizenship nor sworn an oath of allegiance to Kenya, his Kenyan citizenship automatically expired on Aug. 4,1982,” the Web site stated.

“Fight the Smears” attempted to debunk rumors that Obama was not a U.S. citizen by producing a 2007 computer-generated copy of his certification of live birth.
“The truth is, Barack Obama was born in the state of Hawaii in 1961, a native citizen of the United States of America,” the Web site states. However, “native citizen” is a colloquialism, not a legal term. It is not the same as
“natural-born citizen,” the requirement to be president set out in Article 2, Section 1 of the Constitution.

Chief Justice John Roberts has scheduled a Supreme Court conference on Jan. 23 on Lightfoot v. Bowen, one of several cases alleging that Obama is not a “natural born” citizen because of his birthright British citizenship. The State Department chalked up the passport file snooping discovered in March 2008 to “imprudent curiosity” by contract employees hired to help process passport
applications.

Asked by reporters during a campaign stop in Portland, Ore., to comment on the breach, Obama said that attempts to “tap into people’s personal records” were “a problem not just for me but for how our government functions. “I expect a full and thorough investigation. It should be done in conjunction with those congressional committees that have oversight so it's not simply an internal matter,” he added.

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice phoned Obama and personally apologized for the breach. “I told him that I myself would be very disturbed if I learned that somebody had looked into my passport file,” Rice told reporters. She phoned Clinton and McCain and offered similar apologies.
Following the breach, State Department managers met with Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Joseph Biden, whose committee has oversight over the Foreign Service and the passport office. Biden will be sworn in as Obama’s vice
president on Jan. 20.

The State Department Office of Inspector General (OIG) issued a 104-page report on the breach last July. Although it is stamped “Sensitive but Unclassified,” the report
was heavily redacted in the version released to the public, with page after page blacked out entirely. The problems posed by the breach were so serious that the inspector general recommended that the State Department conduct “vulnerability and risk assessments of all passport systems” to identify security weaknesses and suggest “a timetable for implementing corrective actions.”
Acting Assistant secretary for administration William H. Moser sent a six-page reply concurring with the recommendation, all but one paragraph of which was blacked out because of the sensitivity of the information it contained.

Had Brennan been appointed CIA director, as rumored in the Obama campaign shortly after the election, senators also would have questioned him about an article he wrote in an obscure foreign policy magazine over the summer. The article, entitled “The Conundrum of Iran: Strengthening Moderates without Acquiescing to Belligerence,” appeared in the July issue of “The Annals of the American Academy of Political and Social Science.” Among other recommendations, it argued that the next U.S. administration should grant political legitimacy to the terrorist organizations Hezbollah and Hamas, and should exercise “strategic patience” with Iran rather than engaging in “bellicose”
rhetoric and coercive diplomacy.”

I can see why this was scrubbed. This cover-up preceded Obama’s oath. Everyone knew. Obama “was a foreign national until the age of 18.” The State Department, Joe Biden of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee knew. Could that be why Joe was picked for VP? Foreign relations met in Mar of 08.

Please allow me to correct two errors in my previous post:

1. The URL posted at NewsMax was incorrect, but I should have noticed. The original is still available here:

http://www.newsmax.com/KenTimmerman/brennan-passport-breach/2009/01/12/id/337482

If you go to their archives several of their URLs have been mangled, probably innocently, by appending the full URL to the newsmax domain.

2. I referred to John Brennan as Obama’s Counterterrorism Chief. His proper title is Assistant to the President for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism. Not surprising are Brennan's connections to George Mitchell and the, now old, Institute for Policy Studies lefty, Anthony Lake (who, like Brennan, almost became CIA Director).

I note as well that while Lt. Quarles Harris had been eliminated in April of 2008, the Timmerman article nine months later didn't mention it.

What was the Analysis Corporation even doing at the State Department to begin with? What work were they supposed to be doing and why?

Politically, there are only two things that absolutely set my teeth on edge: Election fraud and scamming the rule of law.

I am generally rather sanguine about most political issues. If the election system remains sound and rule of law followed, there is always the opportunity to persuade our fellow citizens to vote differently. Also, most often, simply the natural consequences of some policies ( painful though they are) are enough to get our nation's citizens back on the right path.

But...If the election process is corrupted and rule of law trashed, we as a nation are doomed.

With the issue of Obama’s eligibility, Obama has managed to do both election fraud and trashing the rule of law. Honestly, it just sticks in my gut! I swing from despair to fury that our elected representatives, the judiciary, law enforcement, and both the mainstream ( Marxist) media and the conservative media are letting this criminal get away with it.

May God save this nation and find a way to break this log jam of contemptible indifference that is keeping Obama in office.

Limbaugh played Brennan speaking to a New York University audience, referring to Al-Kutz, the Arabic name for Jerusalem, and speaking in reasonably fluent Arabic to the audience.

I heard this. He ended with six English words. "Don't tell anyone what I said." One would think that by now some translation would have been forthcoming, but I have not seen one.

That jumped out at me, too. Not that Harris' murder was mentionedm IIRC, in the msm or anywhere other than the one Washington Post article and still not one word of investigation (yeah, right) into the case. One would think this high a profile "cooperating" individual's murder would warrant a good deal of investigation, but noooo. Obamacide.

I got this in an e-mail:

My Fellow Americans,

On Tuesday, 18 May 2010 in The ATLAH Court room under the sanction of the US Constitution “We The People spoke.” Mr. Obama , Michael Sovern, and the Trustees of Columbia University were found guilty on all 17 counts of Sedition, Conspiracy, Fraud, and Obstruction of Justice.

I am assembling a coalition to hand the verdicts to The Judiciary of The US Senate, The US Congress, The Joint Chiefs Of Staff, and The US Attorney General.

Specifically for Michael Sovern and Columbia University, I will be submitting to The New York State Bar, The New York State Attorney General, New York State Regents, and The Mid-Atlantic Schools Accreditation demanding their license to operate an educational institution be revoked.

Perhaps their first response will be to defend and reject. Thereupon, will begin the most exciting part of this guilty victory. Inasmuch, as we will proceed to court testing the constitutionality of the 10th Amendment established by our Founding Fathers.

I expect the courts to be careful in their decision not to injure the rights of “We The People.”

Thank you for your support, I will post and update on You Tube within 24 hours and will take a few weeks rest from the daily Manning Report.
Visit Atlah.org for all daily updates.

In His Royal Service
Rev. James David Manning, PhD

Thanks. Good article and Timmerman is trustworthy.

Please be aware that it does not say that Rice said it was to cauterize the records but is attributed to "sources".

I have no doubt that is why it was done and why Quarles was executed.

Records are restricted. HIPPA makes medical records and medical information restricted etc.

Isn't HIPPA medical related? What does that have to do with student loan records?

John Fund made the offhanded comment last Friday on John Bachelor's program that the most powerful man in the white house is John Brennan, former CIA assistant director, and employer of Lieutenant Quarles, the State Department contract employee who, according to Condoleeza Rice, “cauterized” Obama’s passport files, and was assassinated (nothing was stolen from Quarles, bullet in the head) in front of his church while he was claimed to have been cooperating with the the Justice Department.

His name was Leiutenant [note odd spelling of his given name] Quarles Harris. He was shot in front of a church at around 11pm. He was not a Lieutenant in anybody's army. Rather he was a professional identity thief whose demise is of no interest to anyone not on the DC police force. Harris did not work for the State Department, but rather was in cahoots with someone who did. And the purpose of their criminal enterprise was identity theft and credit card fraud, not cauterizing records.

BTW, do you have a link showing Condoleezza Rice using the word cauterize in connection with this case?

Enhancing evidence does not strengthen a case. Rather, it encourages observers to toss out the valid points along with the garbage.

Thanks cynwoody. I have not explored the origins or meaning of Harris’ name, and did wonder why he was referred to as “Lt.”

The important issue is that Harris was Brennan's employee, Brennan who almost became director of the CIA, who is a virulent Arabist (read anti-Irael). If Harris was a “professional identity thief” he was vetted by Brennan and by the State Department, cleared for access to physical data records of personnel with some of the highest security clearances we grant. It is also relevent that Harris was killed while he was said to have been cooperating with the justice department, Bush's justice department.

I will offer my semiprofessional opinion that no professional identity thief would not know the extent of the audit trail around secured records facilities. Harris had been working as a contractor to the State Department. It is highly likely that he was ordered to clean out the passport files by someone with the authority to provide cover. Those facilities are under constant surveillance, not just by video but other physical and electronic means. No one enters a building, a door, a drawer, a folder, without that access being logged. He must have assumed he would be protected. Instead, it appears his employer was protected by his silence.

Sandy Berger, a former associate of both Sestak (yes, that Adm. Sestak, offered a handsome position not to run against Spector)and Brennan, could cleanse Clinton's files with impunity, having been National Security Adviser. Who provided Harris, the “professional identity thief” with the clearance to access Obama’s, Clinton's, McCain's, files? That is the relevant question.

If you think exploring whether Rice repeated the State Department's public statement including the word “cauterize,” and that the lack of direct attribution relegates the announcement “garbage” why not look it up? I smell an ulterior motive.
