He should have called out the national guard and requested international help (since he hasn't gotten any from Obama). Instead he's been crying that the federal government isn't doing anything and now it's probably too late.
Excellent photo essay. Very sad.
The f’in media can somehow with a straight face blame Bush for Katrina, but they NEVER will blame obama for this. Even though BP has given him the lion’s share of donations.
This is the Regime’s Reichstag Fire with regards to offshore drilling. He’ll place a moratorium on all oil exploration and sit back while gas goes to $10.00/gal. After sometime the economy will flat line, you’ll see Greek style protests and the Regime declares martial law. I only say this half tongue-in-cheek.
Several Louisiana dem strategists are lowering the boom on zer0. Carville, Donna Brazille, and a couple others I can’t think of their names though.
While the arrogant azzh*** sets on his golf balls, poor
animals die and businesses also lose.
He could have done something on DAY ONE.
He thinks he’s too big to fail.
All they want is more money from BP and
American citizens.
Don't think so. They don't dare now that the stock market has already taken a steep dive. Any more undermining of the economy and the Dems take a commensurate dive in election polls.
The rock and the hard place are really getting bigger. This is shaping up to be THE issue that puts a permanent stake in the heart of the Obama administration. You should see the flak he's taking from the left. Verrrrrry interesting.
Great, now that the “Gulf of Obama” is lost do we have any reason not to resume drilling?
Yet there are those that believe Bush allowed 9/11 to happen so we could go to war with Iraq. Do these yahoos believe 0bama allowed this to happen so he could stop offshore drilling? Prob'ly not.
These pictures literally brought me to my knees in a well of tears. I detest BP Oil and all of the greedy individuals who only cared about their fur coats and penthouses on Park Avenue. This "look the other way" approach to meeting regulations is another left-over fragment of the Bush Administration and all of his Texas oil buddies.
BP needs to rip every single sign they own down. Every time I see one I cringe and am reminded of all the wildlife they've demolished.

If the governor calls out the NG, and not the Fed, then the state has to pay their wages and costs and not the Fed.
That’s the way it works.
If they can convince the Fed that the situation is dire or a national responsibility, then that money is already in some emergency contingency Dept of Defense budget pot someplace.
So, I fully understand Jindal trying to get Obama to move off the dime.
But, apparently our clueless leader also doesn’t give a dime.
The State of Louisiana has the most to lose here and if they don't stop the oil from going ashore, their wildlife and fish and shrimp industries crash. I think Jindal should have done all in HIS power to prevent this mess while at the same time calling in the feds. If I were governor, I would have been on the phone to EVERYONE (including China) and not just sit on my hands waiting around waiting for Obama to get off the pot.
Obama has been criminally negligent and an example for all time of abrogated leadership. I agree with you fully on that. However, my time in the military makes me aware of how the payment for active duty NG goes.
I wholeheartedly agree that an invitation to other countries to help would be a serious black eye for this administration, and a justly deserved one. Jindal should have been doing everything possible, and in a huge media way, to get this resolved. On the other hand, he already has done more than Obama has. That’s the opposite of Katrina after which Bush pretty much got to work while the Louisianna governor and mayor sat on their asses and wrung their hands.
It is amazingly expensive to call out the NG. IF you call out a single brigade with their full contingent of support, you’re talking about 5000 troops. Just the daily salary is about a million bucks. Operational costs double that easily, and then there’s the issue of any experimental technology/procedures that you have to purchase and train. I’m thinking we’re talking 3-4 million a day. Every week 20 million and every month 80 million.
That’s for just one brigade with all support units.
Louisiana is not a rich state.
