I think JD is trying to be classier than Juan has been. Although, it really doesn't take much.

I am glad to see JD campaigning in earnest...He literally "wrote the book" on the folly of illegal immigration. It would be a shame to waste all that preparation.

What would going into the gutter accomplish? This is smart politics by Hayworth. He's not attacking McCain personally or using negative campaigning, just pointing out that McCain has been wrong on most issues throughout his Senate career and contrasting it with what he would do if elected. It's sound strategy against someone who is still respected in the state and Congress.
