MSNBC defends fraudulent Rand Paul transcript as "technically correct", makes no apologies

I've noticed a few recent news articles are reporting Rand had the following exchange with Rachel Maddow.

Maddow: Do you think that a private business has the right to say, "We don't serve black people"?

Paul: Yes. I'm not in favor of any discrimination of any form...

If you go to the video however, Rand obviously never said the word "yes". Here it is, cued up to the exact moment: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6VGdP2mNPeo#t=8m1s

It was merely some sort of insignificant vocalization to maintain the flow of conversation that was already made difficult by the satellite delay. Now he WAS laying out what the arguments would be for "yes", but he never actually said "yes". It makes a BIG difference to insert that word there.

Here are some of the major media outlets I have come across that are using the nonexistent "yes" quote:

I've seen this sort of thing happen in other contexts. Someone by force of habit prefaces an answer to a question with "Yes" or a small sound that sounds like "Yes," even when they don't mean to give a "Yes" answer. It's more like they mean to say "Yes I understand, now here's my answer."

With viewers and credibility abandoning the MSM, we can expect more false claims, video editing and photo shop frauds than ever. Given the quality of ‘journalism’, as demonstrated by Dan Rather, Chris Matthews, Whoopi, Joy and the like, is it any surprise?

Slimy, slimy, slimy...a banana slug is as dry as toast compared to PMSNBC. Nest we’ll hear that Mr. Paul flew jets for the TX National Guard and missed some meetings because of his Dad’s influence. Maybe Rachael and Mary and Dan have a thing going on???

This reminds me of the time some newsroom Democrat asked Congressman Dan Burton if he thought Clinton was a “scumbag” and Burton nodded in agreement and said,”Yeah”. From that moment forward the story has been that Burton came out and called Clinton a “scumbag”.

Fake but accurate.

Sounds like:

“Yeah, I’m not in favor of ...”

opposed to:

“Yes. I’m not in favor of...”
