Britain bans doctor who linked autism to vaccine

LONDON (AP) - Britain's top medical group on Monday banned a doctor whose research suggesting a link between a common vaccine and autism caused millions of parents worldwide to abandon the shot for measles, mumps and rubella.

Dr. Andrew Wakefield was the first to publish peer-reviewed research suggesting such a connection, even though the study was later widely discredited. The ruling by Britain's General Medical Council found him guilty of serious professional misconduct.

Wakefield, 53, then moved to the U.S. and set up an autism center in Texas, where he has a wide following, but faces similar skepticism from the medical community. The ruling in Britain only applies to his right to practice medicine in the U.K., not in other countries.

I was going to suggest (after you put down the pet food and baby formula) going to Google Scholar. Sure, that would make your head explode, since nobody can trust search engines because of the billions they make off of people!!!! Don't believe me, then go to the back page of Drudge...NOW!!!!

Your studies are not frauds because your studies do not exist ("!!!"). Don't go to Wikipedia either, they log all of your keystrokes, especially the !!!

Phyllis Schlafly, the noted epidemiologist, has noted that iron lungs weren't so bad. Hey we even had a Democrat with polio who got elected president 4 times. And Phyllis survived polio and FDR. How cool!!!!

What about the hockey stick in PHILADELPHIA!!! It has melted the Black Hawks' chance to sweep. I hope they do not bring it to Chicago on Sunday or else they could melt the Hawks' chances!!! Do not watch the NHL, they will make you watch ads for PEDs!!!! PEDs make billions off of people...and stuff happens for four hours...or something like that.

Like I say, the test means nothing because you have those shots in isolation. They did not get the Hep B shots and the myriad of others that US children are subjected to. Combination and accumulation does make a difference. Like Wakefield said, there is more danger in doses combined than in giving them separately, spaced out. I would just agree with this statement on common sense ground. Anytime you inject poisons, the immediate amount directly effects reactions. How can you disagree with him?

Some might object on moral grounds to those shots:

Like I say, the test means nothing

It only means that a huge study has more credibility than a study with 12 kids.

Any luck proving your lie about mercury in the shots now compared to shots in the 70s?

Like Wakefield said

In the study with the fabricated data?

What fabricated data in Wakefield’s study?

The doctor who sparked the scare over the safety of the MMR vaccine for children changed and misreported results in his research, creating the appearance of a possible link with autism, a Sunday Times investigation has found. Confidential medical documents and interviews with witnesses have established that Andrew Wakefield manipulated patients' data, which triggered fears that the MMR triple vaccine to protect against measles, mumps and rubella was linked to the condition.

The research was published in February 1998 in an article in The Lancet medical journal. It claimed that the families of eight out of 12 children attending a routine clinic at the hospital had blamed MMR for their autism, and said that problems came on within days of the jab. The team also claimed to have discovered a new inflammatory bowel disease underlying the children's conditions.

However, our investigation, confirmed by evidence presented to the General Medical Council (GMC), reveals that: In most of the 12 cases, the children's ailments as described in The Lancet were different from their hospital and GP records. Although the research paper claimed that problems came on within days of the jab, in only one case did medical records suggest this was true, and in many of the cases medical concerns had been raised before the children were vaccinated. Hospital pathologists, looking for inflammatory bowel disease, reported in the majority of cases that the gut was normal. This was then reviewed and the Lancet paper showed them as abnormal.

You also don’t know if the scientists that did the Finnish “study” were in the pockets of big pharma. Did you look at each bank account— or if they are on the boards of pharaceutical companies. Why should I take any “study” seriously when we know what billions of dollars can buy and haven’t done thorough checks on motives or bias of scientists? You think all scientists are moral and good? (oh, wait....Wakefield....ummmm!!!)Could he be the “only” bias, “evil” scientist out there?

For decades now we have a PC climate which attacks everyone who makes the common sense statement that when you inject toxins into healthy humans you get adverse results.

You make no mention of Kuhn or the pressure on scientists to “think inside the box” -—”all vaccines good—the more the healthier!!!

I think: More toxins injected into small immature bodies = more abnormalities and neurological damage. (Oh, but I am just a lowly mother).

Protections from “DEATH” and disease?????? Really. That is debatable in most circumstances. Rather the emphasis should be on the known damage of the accumulated toxins being intentionally injected into humans.

Now you're projecting the flaws of Wakefield on all scientists.

If you can prove the Finnish scientists took payoffs from lawyers and had their own vaccine they could make money from, after they fabricated their results, then I'll discount their results and call them scumbags. Until then, I'll just discount Wakefield and call him a scumbag.

Any luck finding the data to backup your lie about mercury?

Sunday Times investigation?????? Like Dan Rather’s investigation of Bush????? Why would I believe that anymore than Wakefield?

You really need to read a book written in the 80’s. The Closing of the American Mind by Alan Bloom. Journalism and scientific analysis today? What does that mean, if anything?

Yes.

Like Dan Rather’s investigation of Bush?????

No. Wakefield was like Dan Rather.

However, our investigation, confirmed by evidence presented to the General Medical Council (GMC),

Evidence, something Wakefield fabricated. Something you've yet to provide about mercury in shots.

Now run away without providing proof again. LOL!

General Medical Council???????? WOW!!! As if I would believe them? HA HA.

You haven’t read Bloom:

Graduates (scientists) of ALL universities since before the 80’s—these are the scientists making today’s policies????

Raised on moral relativism and brainwashed into nihilistic German philosophy where reason and truth do not matter—I would want to go by THEIR recommendations? No Thank you!

And why wouldn't you?

I know, your feelings are superior to science.

That is MY point....feelings are now considered superior to reason (Bloom). YOU are going by "feelings" and accept "truth" on hearsay that goes against all logic: Injection of known toxins into new born babies caused neurological damage.

I prefer reason. BTW, just all the universities that receive government grant money, etc., are corrupted. Hillsdale college gets my apology!

Are you that foolish to think that "brainwashing" doesn't occur in our schools when they are designed on the Prussian model that produced Nazi thinking under the guidance of progressives such as Mann and Dewey?

You don't think it affects scientific studies or thoughts when government denies grants for studies THEY "deem" are irrelevant and CHOOSE to provide money for studies that "PROVE" their agenda? Do you honestly think scientists are not vilified and ostracized when they disagree with the accepted paradigm? (Refer to Ben Stein's movie, Exiled)

Here is your LOGICAL so-called scientific worldview being forced on the masses in today's schools which mean our scientists graduate thinking in an illogical, superficial way (Bloom).:

1. Homosexuality is genetic. The behavior is good and not disordered or aberrant. It should be celebrated.

2. Religion and reason are incompatible. God is Dead. (Yet, how irrational are Dawkins and Hitchen's theories... aliens seeded life or various other claims that are based on sheer "faith" that there is no God).

3. Women and men are the same--just culturally indoctrinated to act in socially accepted ways.

4. The white race is oppressive and evil and all other races are noble.

5. Toxins in the environment are dangerous unless intentionally injected into the body in unnatural methods mandated by people in virtuous governments or corporations that only make a few billion dollars off of one vaccine. (Let's get rid of liability laws! OH, they did. )

6. Jews are evil because they are responsible for the vast amount of poverty in the world because of their control of banks. (Send them back to Poland!)

7. People always infest nature and should be eliminated--at least, the poor masses and minorities (Sanger and the progressives which control the govt. now and Gates statement: Vaccines could be used to sterilize.)

. 8. All things Christian need to be expunged from the public square (separation????) (Good one, huh, cuz they hold to ABSOLUTE TRUTH and aligned Christian thinking with Natural Law to produce the most logical thinkers in the history of the world). (Can't have logic when skinner and pavlov are the gods in education).

9. Christians can not be scientists since they are irrational. (Ben Stein's documentary) (Do you really want me to list all the outstanding Christian scientists?)

10. Abortion does not kill life.

11. The Human fetus is not a living human being.

12. All teenagers will engage in sex because it is impossible to control the sexual instinct. (I proved that one WRONG--but then, I was raised with moral absolutes and believed in God!)

13. Christian religions can have homosexual-practicing clergy which does not conflict with Christian Theology. They celebrate and love sinners. (That is state-sanctioned religion as well as the Black Liberation Theology where politicians have no problem mixing state and religion. No double standard there.)

14. Capitalism is evil; Marxism is good. (Obama praised and lauded by all major press) Milton Friedman said it best: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RWsx1X8PV_A

15. etc., etc., etc.

Injection of known toxins into new born babies caused neurological damage.

I found this study published by the Journal of the American Medical Association. If both the Hep B vaccine and the immune globulin are administered to newborns, the risk of infection falls 75-85%.

First, routine vaccination ensures that infants born to mothers inaccurately believed to have a negative HBsAg status would still receive prophylaxis against vertical transmission. The recommended prophylaxis of newborns born to HBsAg-positive mothers consists of both HBV vaccine and hepatitis B immune globulin, but the risk of transmission is decreased by 75% to 85% when HBV vaccine is used alone.

http://jama.ama-assn.org/cgi/content/full/285/14/1874

See, it's not that hard to find a valid study.

You nailed it. I stopped getting my oldest (he’s 10 now) vaccinated when was a year old and my youngest has never had the 1st vaccination....

and no, I didn’t base it on what some kooky activists told me to do....I researched it myself and prayed long and hard....

My oldest doesn’t even remember his doctor’s name b/c he has only see her like 5 times in his life...and once was for swimmer’s ear and others for check ups...he’s never sick...except the first year of his life when he had vaccinations, he stayed sick......

I’ve been called a kook and told I was crazy....I debated a co-worker’s wife who is a pediatrician b/c someone told her to “have a talk with me”....he best explanation for chicken pox vac was “it saves them from missing 2 weeks of school and the parent 2 weeks of work”....I told her that was the dumbest argument for a vaccine I had ever heard...
