Lab Chosen To Test Oil Spill Water & Animal Samples Has Ties To BP
AllGov ^ | 5/22/2010 | Noel Brinkerhoff

To find out how much damage the Deepwater Horizon accident has caused the environment, experts are collecting water samples from the Gulf of Mexico for testing. But the federal government is requiring these samples to be tested at ONE laboratory (TDI Brooks International's B&B Laboratories) which does work for the petroleum industry, including BP, owner of the offshore oil platform that blew up and sank.

In addition to this potential conflict of interest, federal officials have mandated that BP gets to hire the companies that collect data as part of efforts to rescue wildlife covered with oil.

"Everywhere you look, if you look, you start seeing these conflicts of interest in how this disaster is getting handled," said Taylor Kirschenfeld, a Florida environmental official...

The New York Times also reported that a BP official, Sylvia V. Baca, currently serves as the deputy assistant secretary for land and minerals management in the Department of the Interior, giving her oversight of offshore drilling.

Wow.

Obama received more campign cash from BP than any other federal official in the past 20 years?

Lab chosen to test oil spill water and animal samples has ties to BP?

And BP gets to to choose which companies will collect data as part of efforts to rescue wildlife covered with oil?

Is this an attempt by the Obama administration to control the flow of pictures of animals covered with oil and control the flow of info dealing with the environmental impact?

Goverenor Jindal apparently is tired of Obama dragging his feet on the ever-spreading mess in the Gulf. He has said that Louisiana isn't waitting on the feds and is now going to start dealing with the environmental mess there now more than before.

No it doesn't. It said the same lab had performed testing for BP. So what?

Crony capitalism?

BTW, photos of animals suffering have begun to show up on the net.

Go to Google and Google News and you will find them.

Pictures of the mess that animals are suffering due to the oil spill - the MSM is being slow to show them this time. Hmmm. I wonder why...

Yes it does.

Read the rest of the article and what the NY Times has to say.

Salazar... ylvia V. Baca...Obama donations from BP...BP gets to hire the companies that collect data as part of efforts to rescue wildlife covered with oil.

Please don’t cover for Obama. Please. Thank you.

Instead, show how he is a failure on this.

The NYTs article doesn’t say anything different about the lab. It does testing for the oil industry. Big deal.

No, not wow. This is no big deal at all because the oil companies cannot trust the gov’t labs. There was an oil spill in the Puget Sound a few years ago that the local enviro-nazis pinned on Conoco because they had a tanker in the area at the time. The only other vessel was an old state ferry. The tests came back inconclusive, but the state insisted that it had to be the CONOCO tanker and refused to release the results of the tests. No one has been able to speculate how exactly the tanker could have spilled the oil while underway, but the deep pockets of the oil company were just too tempting, especially since the only other scenario involved the state ferry, a very old state ferry.

So what? Oil companies give to both sides. Labs do tests for lots of companies. There is nothing there. Plenty of real stuff to nail Obama on without making stuff up.

This shows how morality and ethics are always critical in projects involving government and private industry—such as cleaning up an oil spill.

As we debated recently in this thread.

How many times has Palin been the first Republican to speak out against an Obama atrocity?

“How many times has Palin been the first Republican to speak out against an Obama atrocity?”

That’s a good question.

It seems like the answer is that Palin is always the first Republican to speak out against an Obama atrocity.

Is it possible to find a lab qualified to do these types of tests that has zero connection with BP? I only ask because it’s a pertinent question, before we start breaking out the pitchforks.

Interesting, and all too typical that the press can uncover this kind of minutae when it involved “greedy capitalists” but can’t apply the same journalistic skills with Obama’s links to CCX, ShoreBank, SEIU et.al.

On the other hand, what if the lab that usually works with BP has tremendous expertise in this area, and that is why they use them in the first place? Then you would much rather have an experienced and trusted lab do the work, would you not? Than an unknown one?

BS. This is the third time you have pinged me after being told not to do so. I have no interest in anything you have to say. Tell whatever demon is resident inside your thick freakin' skull to read the memo:

DO NOT PING ME.

I had only hoped to continue the conversation you initiated with me here.

It was a very good discussion, but if you’re not interested in learning about recent events that shed light on your uncertainties from our discussion, I’m happy to stop pinging you.

Explain it to the mods. I hit the abuse button. You’re either too stupid to understand the bloody words “do not ping me” or you are blatantly violating FR rules.

Wise the Hell up you dunce.
