Senators are preparing to eliminate all references in federal law to the terms mental retardation and mentally retarded individual.
Rosas Law, which will be marked up on Wednesday, would replace those terms with intellectual disability and individual with an intellectual disability.

Oxymoron?
Goofy legislation.
That is so retarded.
How about stupid?
Flippin retards
The whole Congress is a gaggle of retards -—about half are libtards (democRATs and RINOs)
These retarded jerks should not be so self conscious!
Is not that the definition of a US Senator? They and the House have to be the biggest bunch of retards in the US. Kind of reminds me of how there never used to be anything wrong with the term Midgets. They were little people. No big deal. Now, the term is considered an insult. I wonder who decided to make it an evil word. Must be the same crazies who are now on the Mentally Retarded kick.
What a bunch of retards.
Well, I suppose this is better that they are wasting their time on this than wrecking the country with more government takeovers and porkulus bills.
Besides, when they have completely removed the word from all Federal legislation, then they can pass another bill replacing the word “Senator” with “Retard.”
And how much of our tax dollars will this cost us?
Now that’s just retarded.
They need to take the retardedness out of Federal legislation generally.
There are things I will be flamed viciously for mentioning here on Free Republic, but so what!
The word ‘retarded’ is now being treated as forbidden speech even though it is an obvious, observed state-of-being for some members of the population.
This is a blatant grab for mind and speech control by those who feel uncomfortable when another speaks their mind.
The ‘C’ word and ‘N’ word are slurs that elicit violence - I’m not surprised in some states it is considered felony assault to use them.
If using the word retarded offends someone, then they need a thicker skin.
These terms offend me! The term "disability" implies that one is not able. I INSIST that they use the term "differently abled". They must use "intellectually differently abled" and "individual with an intellectually different ability."
Retardation just means slow, why is that now offensive? now they say that same person is disabled and thats ok? What if they don’t consider themselves disabled?
They are going to have to tell the Airbus A380 makers they can’t use that word, too!

RETARD!, RETARD!, RETARD!
