On Thursday, Felipe Calderon, the president of Mexico, where prohibitive gun laws prevent good people from having firearms for protection against criminals and governments of dubious legitimacy (historically the norm in Mexico), encouraged Congress to reinstate the federal "assault weapon" ban. With a warning seemingly designed to appeal to those who believe that speaking out against the Obama Administration's policies are one step short of sedition or worse, Calderon said, "[I]f you do not regulate the sale of these weapons in the right way, nothing guarantees that criminals here in the United States with access to the same power of weapons will not decide to challenge American authorities and civilians."
Calderon also misinformed Congress, claiming that violence in Mexico rose significantly after the U.S. ban expired in 2004. In fact, Mexico's murder rate has been stable since 2003 and remains well below rates recorded previously. However, he did not explain why violent crime has declined significantly in the U.S. since the ban expired, or how a ban on flash suppressors and bayonet mounts relates to drug thugs in Mexico or anywhere else.
Notwithstanding the Washington Post's judgment that Calderon "made a powerful case," we suspect his speech fell on mostly deaf ears in Congress and in Arizona, which he inappropriately criticized for having an illegal immigration enforcement law that is similar to Mexico's. But it had some effect, however. New York Democrat Rep. Carolyn McCarthy issued a statement incorrectly claiming that she has repeatedly introduced legislation to "reinstate" the ban. She has repeatedly introduced legislation, of course, but not to reinstate the ban. Rather, her bills have proposed to apply the "assault weapon" label to far more firearms than were covered by the expired ban, including the M1 Garand service rifle, the ubiquitous Ruger 10/22, and an

Drugs Blocked at Border Fuel Juárez Murders
Authorities now believe two large local gangs, known as Barrio Azteca and Los Mexicles, began to focus on selling the surplus drugs that didn’t get across the border to Ciudad Juárez residents. The gangs, already fighting in the cross-border trade, were engaging in local turf disputes to decide who controlled street corners in the city.
Some in Ciudad Juárez fear the cross-border crackdown has also led to spikes in other crimes here from kidnappings to carjackings, as some drug traffickers got pushed out of the business completely. “People needed a way to support themselves,” says Oscar Cantú, the publisher of the daily newspaper El Norte. “Marijuana was like the tortilla in Juárez”the staple that supports the economy.

It the Mexican President is such a policy genius when it comes to US policy then how come his own country is such a mess?
Have you seen the following?
On Wednesday Obama Took the First Major Step in a
Plan to Ban All Firearms in the United States
On Wednesday the Obama administration took its first major step in a plan to ban all firearms in the United States . The Obama administration intends to force gun control and a complete ban on all weapons for US citizens through the signing of international treaties with foreign nations. By signing international treaties on gun control, the Obama administration can use the US State Department to bypass the normal legislative process in Congress. Once the US Government signs these international treaties, all US citizens will be subject to those gun laws created by foreign governments. These are laws that have been developed and promoted by organizations such as the United Nations and individuals such as George Soros and Michael Bloomberg. The laws are designed and intended to lead to the complete ban and confiscation of all firearms. The Obama administration is attempting to use tactics and methods of gun control that will inflict major damage to our 2nd Amendment before US citizens even understand what has happened.
Obama can appear before the public and tell them that he does not intend to pursue any legislation (in the United States) that will lead to new gun control laws, while cloaked in secrecy, his Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton is committing the US to international treaties and foreign gun control laws. Does that mean Obama is telling the truth? What it means is that there will be no publicized gun control debates in the media or votes in Congress. We will wake up one morning and find that the United States has signed a treaty that prohibits firearm and ammunition manufacturers from selling to the public. We will wake up another morning and find that the US has signed a treaty that prohibits any transfer of firearm ownership. And then, we will wake up yet another morning and find that the US has signed a treaty that requires US citizens to deliver any firearm they own to the local government collection and destruction center or face imprisonment.
THIS IS NOT A JOKE NOR A FALSE WARNING.
As sure as government health care will be forced on us by the Obama administration through whatever means necessary, so will gun control. Read the Article (below URL) U.S. reverses stance on treaty to regulate arms trade WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States reversed policy on Wednesday and said it would back launching talks on a treaty to regulate arms sales as long as the talks operated by consensus, a stance critics said gave every nation a veto. The decision, announced in a statement released by the U.S. State Department, overturns the position of former President George W. Bush’s administration, which had opposed such a treaty on the grounds that national controls were better.

Please forward this message to others who may be concerned about the direction in which our country is headed. This is a very serious matter! Silence will lead us to Socialism!!!
Regulate your own country Calderone, whiney b*****d! And take this one we have over here with you on your way out.
BTW, in our county court at law where I translate on occasion, we sent another one back to Mexico. A young woman who has a 9 yr. old son, she spent 14 days in our jail (DWI, INS hold after the arrest).
Here in Central Texas, INS DOES come after them and deport them, they’re up here within two days after the hearing/trial/sentence completion, no ifs, ands or buts.
Any INS officer/supervisor who refuses to do his sworn duty needs to be indicted and prosecuted ASAP.
So far this month: two attorneys arrested for contempt of court (hour late for court, one 2 1/2 hrs. late), 24 hrs. in jail, 3 defendants for same (usually hr. late). Maybe that’s why INS is always so prompt here!
>> “[I]f you do not regulate the sale of these weapons in the right way, nothing guarantees that criminals here in the United States with access to the same power of weapons will not decide to challenge American authorities
He may not understand this, and neither do most marxists, but that is the EXACT REASON we have a 2nd Amendment in this country. It is supposed to give a means to preventing a government like his from taking over the country.
On second thought, I guess he does understand.
1) Treaties do not override the U.S. Constitution.
2) Treaties cannot amend the Constitution. And last,
3) A treaty can be nullified by a statute passed by the U.S. Congress (or by a sovereign State or States if Congress refuses to do so), when the State deems a treaty the performance of a treaty is self-destructive. The law of self-preservation overrules the law of obligation in others. When you've read this thoroughly, hopefully, you will never again sit quietly by when someone — anyone — claims that treaties supercede the Constitution. Help to dispell this myth.
“This [Supreme] Court has regularly and uniformly recognized the supremacy of the Constitution over a treaty.” - Reid v. Covert, October 1956, 354 U.S. 1, at pg 17.
LOL!
Calderon should just take his 5% override from the drug dealers, and go home.
What are we to conclude from our gubmint's refusal to shore up that border, and the standing ovation our Congress gave their president? If I were paranoid, I might think they want mayhem down there.
Nah. Couldn't be.
Maybe the chihuahua needs to build a wall. :0)
A small percentage of the guns in Mexico came from the United States. We can shut those off with securing the freaken border.
A Look at the Numbers
In 2007-2008, according to ATF Special Agent William Newell, Mexico submitted 11,000 guns to the ATF for tracing. Close to 6,000 were successfully traced — and of those, 90 percent — 5,114 to be exact, according to testimony in Congress by William Hoover — were found to have come from the U.S.
But in those same two years, according to the Mexican government, 29,000 guns were recovered at crime scenes.
In other words, 68 percent of the guns that were recovered were never submitted for tracing. And when you weed out the roughly 6,000 guns that could not be traced from the remaining 32 percent, it means 83 percent of the guns found at crime scenes in Mexico could not be traced to the U.S.
So, if not from the U.S., where do they come from? There are a variety of sources:
— The Black Market. Mexico is a virtual arms bazaar, with fragmentation grenades from South Korea, AK-47s from China, and shoulder-fired rocket launchers from Spain, Israel and former Soviet bloc manufacturers.
— Russian crime organizations. Interpol says Russian Mafia groups such as Poldolskaya and Moscow-based Solntsevskaya are actively trafficking drugs and arms in Mexico.
- South America. During the late 1990s, the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) established a clandestine arms smuggling and drug trafficking partnership with the Tijuana cartel, according to the Federal Research Division report from the Library of Congress.
— Asia. According to a 2006 Amnesty International Report, China has provided arms to countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America. Chinese assault weapons and Korean explosives have been recovered in Mexico.
— The Mexican Army. More than 150,000 soldiers deserted in the last six years, according to Mexican Congressman Robert Badillo. Many took their weapons with them, including the standard issue M-16 assault rifle made in Belgium.
— Guatemala. U.S. intelligence agencies say traffickers move immigrants, stolen cars, guns and drugs, including most of America’s cocaine, along the porous Mexican-Guatemalan border. On March 27, La Hora, a Guatemalan newspaper, reported that police seized 500 grenades and a load of AK-47s on the border. Police say the cache was transported by a Mexican drug cartel operating out of Ixcan, a border town.

Is Executive Outcomes still in business ?
Boycott Mexico!
That's why you have barbaric gangs killing innocent people, Presidente Payaso Perezosos Calderon.
Fix your own country before you offer advice to America.
Shirker, slacker, invader!
Then he can build a wall to keep people from crossing the border! He will finally have a way to put his own people to work.
P.S. Tell your amigo, 0bama, that BORDERS ARE IMPORTANT!
I'm guessing that if a few hundred illegal aliens breach the border around the White House and decide to sleep in his bedroom and his children's rooms, he may ask them to leave. They can answer with, “We do not understand, senor. You just said the other day that borders have no meaning. We will stay here until we get jobs. Go back to sleep presidente, or we may have to sue you.”
The danger that worries me most is that if any one of the 4 conservative Justices or the moderate Kennedy retires or dies in the remaining 2-1/2 years of Obama’s term he will no doubt appoint a radical liberal Justice. His appointment would reverse the Constitutional philosophy of the current Court, and a radically liberal majority on the Court could and probably would overturn the 1956 Reid v Covert USSC decision. If that happens, pray to God that it doesn’t, the door will then be wide open for every wet dream of the globalist/internationalist gnomes who have infested the State Department since WWII no matter who was in the White House.
He doesn't care if his people have jobs or starve, he is only interested in the tiny percentage of Mexicans who are vastly rich and run the country like it was their private property, which in practical terms it is. That tiny elite includes the current richest man on Earth, as well as the owners of practically all Mexican land, industry, and agriculture. The Mexican high rollers and their handpicked government are more than happy to have their dirt poor peons working illegally in the US and sending approximately 20 billion US dollars back to Mexico every year.
