As the debate over illegal immigration and Arizona’s response to it continues to heat up, one aspect seems to have been forgotten. OTMs.
Thousands of illegal aliens apprehended along the 2000 mile long border that stretches through California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas aren’t even from Mexico. They are from other foreign countries. The Border Patrol refers to them as “Other Than Mexicans”, or OTMs. Many of these illegals come from countries that are sponsors of terrorism.
While Felipe Calderon and Barack Obama spent a good portion of the last few days lecturing America on the ‘misguided’ Arizona law that they believe could lead to racial profiling, they have failed to remember that border security is also a matter of national security. It’s not just about the 12 to 30 million Mexicans that have broken the law to get into this country to take our jobs, get onto our entitlement programs, commit heinous acts of rape and murder, and smuggle in drugs.
In 2005 alone, 1.2 million illegal aliens were apprehended, and of those, 165,000 were from counties other than Mexico. Approximately 650 were from “special interest countries”, nations designated by the intelligence community as “countries that could export individuals that could bring harm to our country in the way of terrorism”. This information is documented in a 2006 congressional report titled “A Line in the Sand: Confronting the Threat at the Southwest Border” and prepared by the House Committee on Homeland Security Subcommittee on Investigations.
Obama seems to have forgotten that as president, he is charged first and foremost with the responsibility of keeping this nation safe. Under President Bush’s watch, there were zero attacks on U.S. soil subsequent to the attacks of September 11th. Since Obama has been occupying the oval office, there have been no less then four terrorist attacks on our soil. The deadly shooting attack by Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad on a military recruiting center in Little Rock, Arkansas in May 2009 that killed a US soldier and injured another, the terrorist massacre shooting attack by Nidal Malik Hasan in Fort Hood, Texas in November 2009 that murdered 13 and injured scores of others, the Christmas day terrorist attack on a U.S. airliner bound for Detroit by Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, and the car bomb left in Times Square earlier this month by Faisal Shahzad.
With our borders as porous as they currently are, how easy would it be for some OTM to sneak in a dirty bomb, chemical or biological weapon and set it off on our soil?
The answer is simple: very easily.
But national security doesn’t appear to be a high priority for this president or the
Democrats in the House and Senate, who allow the President of Mexico to lecture them on how the Arizona immigration law is racially motivated, and give him a standing ovation for doing so. Little do they realizing that also applauding, albeit from within the shadows may be some terrorist cell waiting to unleash an attack so deadly, so as to wipe out a major U.S. city, or perhaps an entire region of the country.
Attorney General Eric Holder, Department of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano and U.S. State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley have all admitted that they have not read the Arizona illegal immigration law. And yet they vehemently oppose it. John Morton, assistant secretary of homeland security for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, has said his agency may not even process illegal immigrants referred to them by Arizona authorities. It’s a safe bet that he also has not read the law.
Even though the Arizona law mirrors federal law, and even though it specifically forbids racial profiling by law enforcement authorities, the Obama administration will challenge it in court, and some judge will probably overturn it.
This will then give a green light to not just to Mexicans to continue to sneak into this country, but also to terrorists.
And remember what has been said regarding the war on terror. We have to be right 100 percent of the time. The terrorists only have to be right once.

Just this past week in Austin, an illegal from Morocco deliberately set fire to his motel room..the blaze spread and the motel was destroyed.
The story has dropped out of the local news (naturally), but first reports were that he snuck in through Mexico.
Republicans let the boarder bleed as well.
There are no clean hands in washington IMHO THEY ALL NEED TO GO

I remember reading a few years back that BP estimates they catch around 1/4 of those who make the attempt. So a conservative estimate based on those numbers would be about 2000 OTMs successfully make it across the border without getting caught per year.
Slight correction: 2000 OTMs/yr. from "special interest" countries. ...Syria, Iran, Saudi Arabia, etc.
