SEATTLE An immigration rally that started outside the Federal Building in Seattle got physical after more than 100 demonstrators moved into a building that houses an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency office and court.
The group, including Seattle City Councilman Larry Gossett and El Centro de la Raza Executive Director Estela Ortega, locked arms during the noon hour Thursday and blocked the elevators. When some people tried to get through the human blockade, they were pushed away.
After that, the crowd moved back out to the street, where they sat in a circle at the corner of Second Avenue and Madison Street. The group says they have no plans to move and intend to be arrested.
Police have arrived and closed off the streets leading to the protest.
The crowd is chanting "Obama, you promised; you've got to keep your promise!" and carrying signs that say "Immigration Reform Now" and "America Show Your Morals."
The rally includes a coalition of groups organized by the OneAmerica organization. On its website it calls for pressure on the Obama administration to pass an immigration reform bill this year.
This is what happens when a problem isn’t handle head on. It’s been building up for years at the hands of the liberals and the RINO’s bowing to PC and not The Constitution.
Anyone familiar with this OneAmerica front group? I read through all the bios on their web site:
http://www.weareoneamerica.org/
It appears they are SEIU thugs and have connections with the Bill Gates Foundation and University of Washington. Apparently they were getting funding from WA state before budget cuts.
You notice how public officials in this loony-bin behave? They join the lawbreakers and incite more violence. You notice how the cops behave? They “contain” the situation so that the lawbreakers can have their tantrum unmolested by decent citizens.
Seattle is an insane asylum and the nutburgers are running the show...
Years ago the mexican terrorist gang la raza illegally (surprised?!) took over a closed school and turned it into their gang headquarters.
Naturally the powers~that~be needed to show the lawbreakers what happens when you thwart the law in Seattle, so they deeded the building to them.
100 demonstrators?

Police arrived to close off intersections leading to the sit-in.

By about 1:30 p.m., the crowd dispersed. There were no arrests.

So, participants in an unauthorized 'rally' physically interfere with business, the operation of a major building, and push people around.
They cause a situation where police deem it necessary to close multiple intersections, snarling traffic throughout much of a major US city for NEARLY TWO HOURS during the busy lunch period, and NOBODY is arrested.
Just as al-queda do 'dry runs' on commercial airliners to test security responses, so also La Raza is looking at the police response to this and chuckling right now. They have essentially been told that they can shut down a significant portion of the downtown area of Seattle for nearly two hours and physically harass people and suffer absolutely no consequences for it whatsoever.
This just makes me sick.
How many law-abiding citizens in need of Police assistance were either denied help or had to wait longer than normal as a result of the Officers' time and staff being taken up dealing with this as well as their being forced to reroute their operations around this mess?
These losers of La Raza and their sympathizers / enablers are doing FAR more damage than help to their 'cause'.
Actually, a different story on our local news made clear just how well played this was by the Seattle Police. This group's only goal was to be arrested, and make a big public display of it. Every time the failed to get arrested, they tried to up the ante. Seattle police decided not to let them have that attention. They blocked traffic far from the protesters and didn't let anyone near.
What's the most annoying thing you can do to a protester?
Ignore him. Don't give him the attention he seeks.
Seattle may be crazy town... but the Seattle Police are pretty experienced with handling crazies... They played this right, and saved the taxpayers the expense of dealing with them.
Thanks for a different perspective.
“Why not send them to Seattle?”
Because I live there, for one.

Group leaders say they will conduct another demonstration in a couple of weeks. They say it will have an element of surprise and will be an escalation of what happened Thursday.

What parking is in the city is expensive, drunk bums and derelicts conducting drug deals all over. I live 30 miles away and I avoid it like the plaque.
We found the entire episode to be amusing. It livened up an otherwise boring day.
All the pinheads managed to do was annoy the other tenants of the building, who have no dog in the immigration fight. We came and went through another exit, so their intent to disrupt our comings and goings didn’t quite work.
After they ticked off everybody in our building, they sat down in the middle of the street at the intersection of 2nd and Madison, trying to get arrested. The cops refused to honor their request and let them sit there (much to the annoyance of the #10 bus driver who was trapped with nowhere to go.)
Since they couldn’t get arrested on 2nd, they moved up to 3rd and tried up there. No joy. After that they moved up to 4th, same result.
Eventually they wandered off, sad and not arrested, claiming VICTORY!!!
Whatever.
The cops were right this time. The idiots were trying to provoke a confrontation and the cops did the right thing by not accomodating them. The disruption lasted perhaps 15 minutes on 2nd Avenue. The protestors finally gave up and wandered away.
It wasn't that much of a mess. They blocked 2nd, but emergency vehicles could go down 1st or 3rd with no problem. It was a pretty small group, no matter what they try to portray it as. They pretty much fit in the lobby of our building, and we have a small lobby.
Gather them all up onto buses, and drive them to Mexico.
But these protesters are peaceful and they never use terms like “nazi” to denounce those they oppose, do they?
Local media, inflated the number to 300. Looking at the video of the event, 300 is a pure joke.
In Seattle, the local, state, and feds did nothing when Illegal Immigrants basically invaded a Federal Office. Great...
A bunch of Tim McVeigh wannabe’s.
