Senator Scott Brown switched a key vote from yesterday and joined 57 Democrats and two Republicans this afternoon in advancing a massive financial regulation overhaul.
The Massachusetts Republican said that over the last 24 hours he received assurances from the chief negotiators in the House and Senate, Senator Christopher J. Dodd, and Representative Barney Frank -- that changes he was seeking would be addressed. Those assurances came during a phone call with Frank last night, while the Newton Democrat was working out in the House members gym. Brown was further convinced during a 40-mile bike ride he went on this morning with Senator John Kerry.
We recognize that theres going to be some fixes here, more than likely, and the conference committee, Brown said after voting. Im satisfied that all of our efforts Senator Kerry and my efforts will benefit and protect jobs in Massachusetts.
I spoke at length over a 40 mile bike-ride with Senator Kerry about it, Brown added. Hes a very good athlete.

He has as much chance of being on a national ticket as Olympia Snowe. He's a RINO and would dramatically hurt the GOP's chances in 2012.
No candidate is going to think about Brown being on a Presidential ticket. Who is going to want to alienate the base by putting a RINO on it, especially when he has no chance of winning Massachusetts anyway?
I think that Jimbo stated all that needs to be said.
LLS
Then why are you saying you like him?
Are you an idiot?
Or maybe you lost your mind?
” So wheres the outrage for Collins and Snowe? “
The Pigeon Sisters ?
I disagree with his vote on Financial Reform, but Scott Brown is a likable guy who would probably win any election her runs in. I also like Marco Rubio.
Scott Brown ran and won on less government, a major conservative principle. This major UN-CONSERVATIVE vote turns on the folks who elected him, and all of us.
On THIS site he is going to get a good and deserved raking over the coals. Likewise his defenders, such as yourself - especially when the best you can do is compare him to Snowe, Collins, and Democrats.
Indeed, I am surprised the ZOT has not yet come.
Scott Brown ran as a Scott Brown Republican, and never really campaigned with the Tea Party movement for the simple reason it would have backfired on him in liberal Massachusetts.
I think you are jealous because he is able to bicycle over 40 miles at his age.
Even in majority (and it seems not to matter how large), they always manage to kill good conservative legislation and advance big government and socialism.
That is why we don't like them.
In 2010 and 2012 we wish not to elect a majority of so-called moderates. Rather, we prefer to REALLY take our country back.
You must be bored tonight. Isn’t there anything good on television ?
Alan, you’re funny - not like the usual trolls we get around here.
I don’t know or care how far he can ride a bike.
A 40 mile bike ride just cost us all trillions.
If you wouldn’t mind, could you send me a message when he’s gone? Thanks in advance...
I have no understanding of those who like people who are destroying their country, their liberty and their posterity.
Sounds insane to me, and I've never been able to understand insane people.
