Does anyone know the details of how Arizona will implement their new law? It seems to me that the state may: 1) find illegal immigrants 2) prosecute illegal immigrants 3) Tie the case up beautifully with a nice bow and then 4) Hand the criminal over to Federal authorities.

If that is the case, I can see the feds just turning the crook loose -- "Don't tell us! We'll find them ourselves!"

If, on the other hand, Arizona is planning to fill their state penitentiaries with illegal immigrants, then this may play out differently.

I may be the only one who has actually read this legislation and, after 47 years, I can say with some degree of confidence, that I am probably the only one who has also actually read The Warren Report - Oswald did it, and he acted alone.

For what it’s worth, the Arizona legislation is totally useless for resolving the problem of illegal aliens in AZ.
Despite all of the claims to the contrary, all of the snarky comments about not having read the AZ law, I submit that 90% of the posters on this subject on Free Republic have ALSO not read the law.

In short, ANYONE picked up for ANY reason in AZ may be asked to provide documentation proving that they are in the country legally.

If they are NOT here LEGALLY, they are turned over to Federal authorities.

They are NOT immediately deported by AZ law enforcement. This would be great, but it’s not the case.

I doubt that AZ will want the expense of filling their prisons with illegals, but technically, they can’t deport them. That’s a Federal responsibility

What do the Feds do with these people? Damned if I know, but what ever it is they are doing, it ain’t working.
