Yeah, I’m a biker too. The best advice I ever got before I bought my bike was to assume you are invisible. It literally saved my life at least three times.

Yeah, I always look for bikers. Even then I still managed to narrowly miss an invisible one here a while back.

Chances are this guy was in the middle of the street before the noise from this invisible blind lunatic could be registered.

Excellent point

Several folks I've mentioned this to have admitted they've witnessing the same thing

I saw the same thing last summer. I'm doing 45 on a 4 lane, heavy traffic highway and I hear this motorcycle scream. I look in my rear view mirror to see this kid doing a wheelie about 100 feet behind me and still on one wheel when he flew by me.............I caught hell when I said I should have switched lanes. LOL!

Same here. And the same thing happened to me about three years ago.

I did the I-95 commute from Stafford to DC and even Germantown from 1993 until a couple years ago. Rode year-round. I had few close calls but I really tried hard to ensure I never got into any position where I had no escape. I tried hard to never use the middle lane. I enjoyed the rides even though the traffic was horrendous. Better than a car even in the rain in winter.

I would add to this that those who do see you do so with a bullseye and cross hairs on you.

I’ve had situations where people gun their cars to try to cut me off as I make a lane change and do so with the intent of scaring the crap out of me. I’ve been riding so long the only thing it does is pisses me off. I usually give them an ear full at the next light if they have the guts to not pull off first to avoid having to wait next to me.

That never happened to me on my bike. It DID happen to me on my bicycle a lot though. One was a harley rider. As I am riding he starts riding next to me and gives me a 30 second earful on why us bike riders are a menace, blah, blah, blah, and I just listen.

When he is all done I looked over with an excited look in my eyes and said, excitedly, “Hey, I have a motorcycle too!”. He just gunned it and took off.

Gawd he was pissed.

Speak it brother!

Three Rule of Bikes
1) Never get on a bike without first putting on your brain
(did you mean brain-bucket???) You are going to need it
2) You are Invisible, Trust No One - No One sees you, No One knows you are there - If You are going to find a path, - you are going to have to do it yourself
3) Always Drive within the limits of the bike, road, and your capabilities
- The edge of the envelope has razor blades

Forty years this year. I don't ride as much as back in the 1970s, but still ride...

The FIRST thing I tell new riders is your number 2 - you are ALWAYS invisible; forget that and it WILL cause you to be a victim.

Just because you have a green light doesn't mean you have the right of way -- LOOK BOTH WAYS.

ALWAYS be looking for a way out -- assume something bad is going to happen and you will need somewhere to go. Every moment be thinking ''OK that car is gonna cut me off, where do I bail out?''

Learn how to "steer" a bike -- it is counterintuitive that cranking the handlebars LEFT will (at speed) make the bike go RIGHT (and vice versa). Lots of inexperienced riders steer right into trouble when they're under pressure because of that oddity...
