Anchors aren't known for admitting their shortcomings but Campbell Brown is accepting defeat.
The eponymous host of CNN's "Campbell Brown" has stepped down from the "toughest timeslot in cable news" due to low ratings.
"Simply put, the ratings for my program are not where I would like them to be," Brown said in a statement released Tuesday. "It is largely for this reason that I am stepping down as anchor of CNNs 'Campbell Brown. "
Brown added that she had been ruminating over the move "for some time" and that she felt the urge to reveal the truth behind her departure.
"I have never had much tolerance for others spin, so I cant imagine trying to stomach my own," she said. "The simple fact is that not enough people want to watch my program, and I owe it to myself and to CNN to get out of the way so that CNN can try something else."
Brown's news program aired at 8 p.m. on CNN opposite Fox's "The O'Reilly Factor," HLN's "Nancy Grace" and MSNBC's "Countdown with Keith Olbermann. While Brown praised the "incredible talents" of her 8 p.m. cable news competitors, she also revealed she didn't feel she was in the same league as these pundits.

Are they gonna change the name of the show?
I dunno, O'Reilly doesn't seem to find it all that tough to score fantastic ratings, every night, in that time slot.
Of course. The 3 people watching it might get confused.
Ex-cheerleader Campbell Brown, described by the NY Times as a tattooed ex-party girl and ski bum, tries to make herself out to be a martyr to “hard news” and “old fashioned...journalism”.
I’m proud that I had no idea if this was a man or woman. CNN is only for massive disaster news programming. They still manage to pull that off #1 in my book.
They’re gonna change Campbell Brown’s name to “The Girl from Epoynma”.
(I have to confess, I’ve been looking for a way to use that line for about 25 years.)
Hmmmmm.....something new....like "fair and balanced"???
Oh wait....that's already working....
Hmmmmmm.....how about telling the truth in an objective way without a bias toward liberalism/progressivism?
Maybe she can become a "paid contributor" to FOX...she'd be a damn site better then the defensive, non-sensical, whinning Juan Williams!
One who is referred to as eponymous is someone who gives his or her name to something, e.g. Julian, the eponymous owner of the famous restaurant Julian's Castle. Something eponymous is named after a particular person, e.g. Julian's eponymous restaurant.
While Brown praised the "incredible talents" of her 8 p.m. cable news competitors, she also revealed she didn't feel she was in the same league as these pundits.
If you look just below her right ear, you'll see the Schrader valve.
Glad you got a chance to use it. You probably won’t have another opportunity for another quarter century.
I WILL MAKE A BET!!!!! Watch for CNN to find a conservative to put in the slot....
EXCELLENT!..............................

When you realize you are lower than olbergoober, it’s time to stop pretending you are a “news person”. Certainly there must be a Starbucks somewhere looking for help.
Was this God’s will too? LOL.
That's why she thinks its the toughest time slot. She has to go up against O’Reilley.
The rumor circulating on many of the media sites is that the LuvGov, Elliot Spitzer is the lead contender to replace her.
So much for fair an balanced, although CNN should nicely tie up the hooker and corrupt politician demographics.
Yes, they are. It will now be the Anonymous CNN News Show.............
I think Campbell would do a good job as a talking head guest on these shows, such as BOR. She would be better to listen to (add more value) than most of the liberals BOR and Hannity have on.
Her problem was not her on-air talents, which I think are considerable. It was purely a content issue. No one really wants to listen to that drivel nonstop, either on the tube or on the radio. However, as far as being the liberal guest on various shows, Campbell would be great.
I wonder what took them so long? I try to watch her sometimes but she is a liar, so I just can’t.
