I had a talk one night with a FReeper who was on the USS Midway when they got scrambled to support Operation Paul Bunyan. I’ll have to look up who it was again.

2 American officers died in 1976. We sent a sh!tload of planes and troops ready to act if we could not cut down the trees.

Big difference here. A boat was sunk and dozens died. Response is nil.

Scary stuff, the inaction.
