An intact pair of 'torpedo propellers’ recovered, engraving style analyzed ... U.S. and Australian experts also agree
(Torpedo) exploded 3 meters under the turbine room... Cheonan's lost engine room found

Government source said on May 18, "Cheonan was sunk by a torpedo and we found a smoking gun that proves that it is made in N. Korea, after intensive investigation in recent days by civilian-military team."

The investigation team recently recovered relatively intact torpedo propellers on the sea bottom where Cheonan went down. They analyzed the serial number engraved on the propellers and concluded that it is in N. Korean typeface and engraving style. The government sources said, "Experts from other countries such as U.S. and Australia also agree that the torpedo was made in N. Korea based on the analysis on propeller’s serial number. This is conclusive evidence, coming after finding of torpedo debris and explosive trace."

2 American officers died in 1976. We sent a sh!tload of planes and troops ready to act if we could not cut down the trees.

Big difference here. A boat was sunk and dozens died. Response is nil.

Scary stuff, the inaction.

Is it? Or are they preparing.

Sometimes it is better to go on your timeline than on the enemies.

sent charge d'affaires Xing Haiming instead.

Well, they made sure that we get where they stand. No ambiguity. Even better.

Impressive. We can find torpedo fragments on a vast ocean floor but we can't find a measly Birth Certificate in a Hawaiian Government Office.

To be fair, the sea is only 40m deep at the site. Fishing trawlers of reasonable size could easily scraped the bottom of sea.

Still finding Zero’s birth certificate should be a cake walk compared with this.:-)

I think this is shaping up as an event on a par with ‘76 Axe-Murder in terms of seriousness.

Agreed! Was there ever any doubt the North Koreans did it?

From the article: "Cheonan's lost engine room found"

Any idea what that is about?

I had the impression that the contents of the hull immediately above the blast focus were either scattered all over the sea floor -- or were shoved into adjacent hull sections...

I could see finding the engines and associated equipment in various locations, but not anything recognizable as a detached "engine room"...

The whole country is a fortress. One you have learned to recognize Russian-style AA and A-A missile emplacements, you can spot them all over NK on Google Maps/Earth.

Take a look at the ridge of hills just north of Pyongyang; they are covered in A-A and riddled with tunnels -- including being pierced by a highway that could serve as a runway.

Rooting those devils out of there could be far worse than eradicating the Japanese from their island caves during WWII-- and even worse than we would have faced had we invaded Japan.

See These coordinates

The current satellite image of that area is through considerable cloud cover. "Grabbing" the image and enhancing it (gamma and contrast) can overcome the overcast obscuration to a considerable extent...

Just zoomed out and took a look at that area. The "overcast" is actually smoke from a huge fire up to the northwest...
