Some of America's leading billionaires have met secretly to consider how their wealth could be used to slow the growth of the world's population and speed up improvements in health and education.
The philanthropists who attended a summit convened on the initiative of Bill Gates, the Microsoft co-founder, discussed joining forces to overcome political and religious obstacles to change.
Described as the Good Club by one insider it included David Rockefeller Jr, the patriarch of America's wealthiest dynasty, Warren Buffett and George Soros, the financiers, Michael Bloomberg, the mayor of New York, and the media moguls Ted Turner and Oprah Winfrey.
They gathered at the home of Sir Paul Nurse, a British Nobel prize biochemist and president of the private Rockefeller University, in Manhattan on May 5. The informal afternoon session was so discreet that some of the billionaires' aides were told they were at "security briefings".
Stacy Palmer, editor of the Chronicle of Philanthropy, said the summit was unprecedented. "We only learnt about it afterwards, by accident. Normally these people are happy to talk good causes, but this is different - maybe because they don't want to be seen as a global cabal,"
At a conference in Long Beach, California, last February, he had made similar points...

That is bs.
“Billionares against Tetanus” could be their slogan. These recent James Bond movies are becoming more and more relevant.
David Rockefeller Jr.’s passion is collecting bugs. He has tens of thousands of dead bugs in his apartment. I think that Stephen King could find a story here. Also there is nothing to prevent these guys from giving all of their money to the US Treasury and then jumping off of a bridge in order to save humanity.
If they cared, they would oppose immigration to the US. And H-1Bs. Sterilizing brown, yellow and black women is fince for business. Preventing the importation workers, which would stop wage reductions is bad for corporate America.
Hey Bill, how a nice little virus that you could inoculate yourself and your loved once against that would eliminate all the smelly peasants that clutter up the view from your 500-room house?
This bunch gives new meaning to the old saying, “money is the root of all evil.”
Why don’t they just commit suicide?
What are the arrogant jerks up to now.
Yeah.
It could be a real problem for them to let the truth of their scheming out.
