Sorry, I don't trust gold.
Governments can confiscate it.
Remember, Obama is president and he thinks he is the reincarnation of FDR.
I don’t do much gold. Hard to use it to buy a loaf of bread or a bag of wheat.
A $1 silver coin, though, worth $20 today, is tradeable.
I agree, but for a different reason. I don't trust gold because certificates are worthless if the commodity they are supposed to represent doesn't exist.

_______________
They have to find it first. It’s like hide and seek. Make sure you’re a better hider than they are a seeker and never put all your eggs in one basket.
Not if it's in your house. My grandmother (may she rest in peace) kept a whole shoebox full of gold coins, not being much of an FDR fan. She passed them out to the grandkids in her old age. I still have mine.
In 1932 many people complied with the voice of God (FDR) coming over the radio. Today we laugh at Obama. He could *ask* people to turn in gold, but few would pay any attention.
He could send his officers to come search for it. That wouldn't end well, would it. I mean even the super patriotic Tea Party types who won't hear any talk of revolution or civil war might put up a fuss (with a gun) at FedGov goons coming to steal from you.
How many Waco's in a 12 month period do you think the Government could perpetrate and still remain the legitimate government? One? Three? Thirty? Three Hundred?? I claim the number is much closer to three than to three hundred. In other words, we don't tolerate the intolerable here, we don't have to. They know it, we know it.
No gold confiscation.
Now your 401K, *THAT* they can confiscate!!
