The good news then is that with less than a week before the convention the Dems are in chaos and if a primary does have to happen, the story of Blumenthal’s Vietnam statements will continue to run all summer.

"As a citizen and as candidate, it's shocking to see someone who has tried to craft this image of themselves as a fighter, as someone who is willing to always step up and tell the truth, to see him lie about serving in Vietnam,'' Alpert said during a brief phone conversation tonight.
"He was a coward to go and get five deferments and he's clearly a liar for standing up for his own political benefit years later...It's disgraceful behavior from someone who is clearly not qualified to serve in the U.S. Senate."
I hope the pubbies running for this Senate seat have this on tape. Would make a good campaign add if Blumenthal wins. I don't have a problem with deferrments as long as they are legitimately going to college. Someone should investigate how he got in the Marine reserves though if they were that coveted a spot (as the article claims) in 1970.
Why would you even do that in 1970 anyways? Major ground forces were being pulled out of Viet Nam by 1969. By 1971 (which is probably when he would have graduated boot camp and a school) it was a flyboy's war so unless you were on a flight crew or a pilot, not a lot of danger by then. Sure, there was still some ground combat participation by us going on, but not much. If he was that afraid of going into combat he sure didn't read which way the wind was blowing in 1970

Well yes, Blumenthal didn’t vote for ObamaCare, but the idea is the same. They are replacing many of their candidates, putting in new faces that pretend they are Tea Party like in order to fool the people.
There were ads running here in Indy that don’t give the party of the candidate. The dems all sounded like good ole boy conservatives.
This is just one way they will fight us.

"I hope that Alpert sics the entire Tijuana Brass on Blumenthal. : )"
Heh. Merrick seems somewhat to the right of Herb... one of the nicest guys in show business, btw, and still at the peak of his musical form. Catch him and his amazing wife, Lani Hall, on tour if you can. Their Grammy-nominated CD from last Summer, "Anything Goes," is marvelous.

just saw him on fox giving a press conference and he had the gaul to hold it at the VFW, he is no vet of a foreign war and why the hell are those idiots behind him?
Are they this stupid or are they going to get a big pay off if he wins because it is blatantly easy to see he is lying through his teeth.
It would be nice if people could actually think and say they made a mistake and will now switch their vote instead of standing there shouting for him against reporters

not those idiots standing behind him. I can’t believe any veteran would have stood there in a VFW of all places

Did you sense he was trying to pull the Clinton wool over the eyes routine? Depends on what the meaning of ‘IN’ is....
My husband(who was IN Vietnam) has run into these putz’s on occasions - saying they were over ‘in’ Vietnam when they weren’t...Azzhat Losers!
They sneak into VFW’s and American Legions as ‘Foxhole’ members - burp.

I did sense that too.
The man was totally lying about his record and to have had the press conference in a VFW is another slap in the face.
this man is truly disgusting and isn’t he the one who Beck had on his show?

McMahon leaked it to the NYT, and there may be more coming.
I don't think much of her, but coming from the wrestling industry she knows how to play dirty and get in the mud.
Go for it. Blumenthal is an arrogant, smug SOB.

Don't bet on it. Did you see his Mea culpa speech? He had a bunch of Vets hooting and cheering at the proper moments during his speech. It really sounded like they started their hooting before he made his points - like they were coached!!!
At any rate any Vet who was there cheering should be exposed and shamed!

What’s the difference between Blumenthal and Jane Fonda?
Jane actually went to Vietnam.

I think Arizona should cut off Connecticut’s power.
Take ‘em off the flippin’ grid.
